• Holdyn was prompt and courteous and did the job in half the quoted time, although over half a grand to change a valve ($300/hour) seems excessive to me. Although I agreed thinking that was the cost for the quoted 3-hour job, my issue was that at no time (until I got the invoice AFTER the fact) was I informed that MORE THAN HALF of the cost was to extend the pipe away from the wall which 1st Choice decided I needed but which I never explicitly asked for (while it was far off in the back of the closet I was still able to access the old gate valve which is much less convenient as it requires many, many turns for like a minute just to turn on and off, whereas a 1/4-turn ball valve is just one short turn). If I knew I was paying MORE THAN DOUBLE for that added convenience -- that also entailed more drywall cutting and a huge hole that they will not re-patch -- for something I rarely touch I would have declined and paid less than half (just for the valve change). Why was I deliberately not sent the invoice nor verbally told all this until it was too late? Oddly, they did send me a written advance line-item estimate before arriving for the free quote ($0.00 each) but not for the actual job itself? Seems the line item cost breakdown was hidden up front and I was quoted a lot more money and time than was actually needed as a clever upsell. While I have no complaint so far about their work, withholding details that would have informed my decision ahead of time until after I paid more than double what was necessary is not something I appreciate. Upsells are a common sales tactic but they should at least be transparent.

• 5 stars for Mario and Nate from 1st Choice Plumbing, AC & Insulation! They installed two variable-speed units for me and did a phenomenal job. It was a massive 12-hour project, but they never rushed, never cut corners, and were super professional and respectful the entire day. They did a great job cleaning up their workspace before leaving, too. The best part? They’re coming back in a week just to double-check that everything is running perfectly. • My 30 day review. So far the 5 ton a/c and air handler is working fine which any other company could have gotten and installed for a lesser price. Did research on the company showing A+ rating on several sites. My bad. Paid extra thinking I was getting a premium service. Here's my story. Everything started out fine they removed my old unit then the problem's started. The air handler would not fit through the access door was to long so instead of bringing it back down and disassembling it to get it to fit they tried using a pry bar a few times then decided they would bang on my rafters trying to get it to fit for approximately 20 minutes. While doing so dropped a water bottle and a drill onto laundry room tile floor luckily didn't break the tile. Then while banging on the rafters they dropped a hammer and put a hole in my ceiling along with hairline cracks where wall and ceiling meet 6' and 8' long on the walls underneath where the air handler sat. Tim came out and saw what had happened and told his crew cab to take the air handler down take it apart and reassemble it in the Attic which they should have done instead of trying to force it up. Tim said he would have his drywall guy come out and patch it. Two weeks later their quality control man comes out and sees the whole assuming it was patched Call the office and finally got the drywall guy to come out next day and repair it. Took him 2 hours. When they brought me my paperwork with warranty last name was spelled wrong. Also the wifi thermostat they brought out has their logo lit up on a thermostat which to me is quite annoying and locking me into their services. It's like they're advertising in my home. Asked for another thermostat without the logo along with warranty papers with the correct last name. As of 9/24 still nothing. Want to help out the local company's but now having second thoughts for doing it. Good luck to those reading this. (Update to 3 stars.) All issues have been taken care of. Just waiting some exteneded warranty papers work. 4 month update still getting excessive humming / vibration noise 5 minutes after heater cycle turns on. Woke me up twice last night. Had to call technician out again To see if this can be corrected. Have been at four of my neighbors houses they do not have this issue. I will leave another update later to see if this ever gets corrected. Last time out was told to much refrigerant in the system. Update 2/2/26. Jeo came out to install a soundproofing blanket and a soft start unit on the heat pump. Just got rid of the humming noise I had been hearing but now in heat mode temperature will not get over 75° coming out the vent so will not warm up the house. Call in and have another technician coming out to check it again. This is getting very frustrating. 2/3/26 Manny the technician came out found a crossed wire causing the compressor to shut down on the soft start unit. Removed the soft start unit and installed some pabs Underneath the heat pump which helped lower the humming noise. Checked the temp. Coming out indoor vents was at 109°. Hopefully this is it for a while. Thanks Manny. One year update A/C compressor froze up. Had to wait 6 days to get fixed. Said parts were on backorder. They did bring out two portable units for use to used. It helped some what but the noise made it hard to sleep. Kept the house between 80 and 84 degrees. Josh came out to replace the compressor. Was very polite took about 5 hours to repair. Seem to be working good now. Will keep my fingers crossed. Thanks again Josh. Updates to come if anything changes.

• First Choice AC, etc have excellent representatives. I have not had one issue where they did not respond immediately and resolve my problem as it related to my Smart thermometer for my new HVAC. They installed a new Braeburn thermometer free of charge that was much easier for me to understand. They are professional, friendly, considerate of your home(wear footies), their dress, equipment and whole demeanor is impeccable!
