I recently had my oil boiler and tank removed and replaced with a new electric boiler, along with a new hot water tank, all done through Ryan. A few years ago I switched my heating over to a heat pump, and the only thing left was replacing the old boiler that remained — thanks to Ryan, that's now completely taken care of. Ryan is extremely conscientious, everything is well organized, and his cleanup afterward is the neatest and most thorough I've ever seen. (He also has the most well-equipped and perfectly organized work van I've ever seen.) He's the kind of person you can hand any job to and trust it'll be done cleanly. Watching how he works, I think anyone would come away with confidence in him. (I was genuinely impressed watching him tidy up his workspace the moment he arrived.) With a lot of bigger companies, the person who gives the quote and the person who actually does the work are often different, so you never really know who's going to show up — and the finishing work often ends up less than clean because of that. The reason I chose Backman was that the owner himself comes and does the work, which felt trustworthy. I don't usually leave reviews this long, but he really seems like someone I could recommend to anyone without worry. Writing this honestly. Don't overthink it — you can just trust him with the job.

The Backman Heating and Cooling staff were very knowledgeable about their business and patient with all my questions. Ryan put together a major proposal to convert our home from an oil hot water baseboard furnace to an electric boiler, electric hot water heater and a heat pump with 4 heads as well as install a new heating zone for the house. The old furnace, oil tank and lines were removed without any issues. Ryan and Meredith made sure that the project was scheduled in a timely manner and Ryan completed the installation despite the extremely hot weather. Ryan is reliable and his work was meticulous and beautifully executed. Ryan ensured that he kept the floors covered and protected and cleaned up each evening before leaving. See the photos of the final results of the beautiful work he performed. I highly recommend this business. Addendum April 2024 We were so pleased with the work Ryan did in July 2023 that we wanted to install a second heat pump to heat and cool two other bedrooms. Ryan had it all planned and finished it in one day. Fortunately the weather was perfect to work outdoors. We are very pleased with everything Ryan has done for us. Addendum 2 June 2024 I have a Generac generator which was installed prior to changing my boiler to electric. My generator overloads when the electric boiler activates during a power failure causing the generator to turn off. The generator is under powered for the newly installed system. Ryan came up with a solution to prevent the boiler from drawing too much power from the generator and causing it to turn off. As always Ryan solved the issue in a very professional and thoughtful way. I am thoroughly pleased.
