I wholeheartedly recommend Residential Heating and Air Conditioning. Our nearly 30-year-old HVAC system failed. The HVAC Comfort/Sales Consultant (Timo Parra) listened to our goals, which included reducing the furnace noise in our family room and temperature variance upstairs. Timo was very thorough in his analysis and solution recommendation, which included a high-efficiency, multi stage/speed gas Furnace, AC condenser unit, plus a second air intake upstairs (where there was none) and ductwork down to the furnace in the garage. While there were some unexpected complications (to all of us) along the way, the entire team was outstanding in the way they handled the challenges. My wife and I are very happy with the end result. In my opinion, Residential is just the right size of company. Small enough to provide great customer service, yet large enough to have a real business organization and leadership infrastructure that segments the important functions (sales/HVAC consultants, HVAC designers, service techs, job project coordinator/scheduler, accounting/billing, fabrication and possibly more). Best of all, all the people/departments work together seamlessly without pointing fingers when the unexpected happens. It’s easy to provide great customer service when things go well but way more difficult when challenges occur. I can’t say enough positive things about Residential in this area as well as exceptional response times (calling/emailing/texting) from the entire Residential team during the entire job. I’d like to recognize all the Residential employees I interacted with on a frequent and infrequent basis. All interactions were very positive and professional (and friendly). The plumbing and drywall subcontractors also contributed outstanding work quality and service. Sales/HVAC consultant: Timoteo (Timo) HVAC Design: My apologies but I can’t recall the person’s name that came out with Timo for the pre-installation planning/load calculations. Installation Team: Installation/Tech Manager: Noah Primary Installation Team: Noel, Oscar, Abel and Ben. These guys worked very well together. They had a tremendous work ethic (job done well and efficiently) and positive attitude even when working in extreme heat! The team also kept us in the loop regarding job progress and cleaned up the work areas at the end of each day. Service Techs - post installation fine tuning work/adjustments: Steven, Julian, Brandon, and Abel Project Coordinator: Sabrina Accounting/Billing: Susie My apologies if I omitted any of the Residential project team names. I am either unaware (Fabrication folks, for example) or forgot. No slight intended. In short, Residential provided high quality at a reasonable price.

Residential Heating and Air Conditioning was recommended by a neighbor and they were right on. My service tech, Brandon, was straight forward, professional, and efficient. Squirrels had chewed through the wires and shorted the system. He identified the issue and got everything working quickly. Then he checked the rest of the system and gave me a heads up that the fan motor was at the max amp draw but it's still operating. I appreciate the heads up of what might go next without any hard sell. Residential Heating and Air Conditioning is our now go to for these repairs.

We had an outstanding experience with Residential Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. for our Mitsubishi ducted heat pump installation and complete replacement of our first-floor duct system with a rigid duct system to prevent rodent access. Tyler Shook, our lead consultant, was exceptional. He communicated clearly and consistently throughout the project, ensuring we were informed every step of the way. The entire team was punctual, professional, and a pleasure to work with—truly, it couldn’t have been a better experience. We chose the Mitsubishi ducted heat pump because we have solar panels and Powerwalls, allowing us to use stored energy to efficiently cool our home in the hot Los Gatos summers and heat it during chilly winters. The system has been a game-changer for comfort and energy savings. I highly recommend the Mitsubishi ducted heat pump and Residential Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. for their top-notch service and expertise. Thank you, Tyler and team!

If you are looking for a dependable HVAC company who you can trust…look no further. I have used this team now for 2 different projects (both installing a mini split on our ADU, as well as a full AC maintenance on our older main unit and can not be more impressed with the work that has been done, the communication through the job, and the transparency with the cost and pictures along the way of the work being done. Most recently we had Jason Hood as our technician and he was incredible (highly recommend). Not only did he do an amazing job getting our AC up and running after it had been buried under 6 inches of oak leaves and hadn’t been serviced in years. He also walked my though the whole process and help walk me through our different options that we have and work best for our family. This company will have my business for a long time and I have already signed up for annual service plan with their team.

Jason from Residential Heating and Air Conditioning came out on a service call a couple of weeks ago. I had HEPA filters that needed changing in our units in the garage and attic. I also asked for a furnace inspection of both furnaces. He also changed the filters in our two HEPA units--one in the attic and one in the garage. He then cleaned our dryer vent inside our laundry room. He even vacuumed behind the dryer and the floor in the laundry room to clean up any mess. Then he went outside with his ladder to clean the opening from the wall to the outside. In the past, this was not always done. Besides doing a thorough job, he took photos of all the work he did and shared them with us. There were 2 parts to the furnace in the garage that he said were not performing well and we should consider replacing. He came out today to replace them and also measure for custom made return air flow replacement filters. He took more photos of the old parts and new ones. My husband and I were so impressed that he documents what he does with photos so he can clearly show customers what he did and what needs doing. Besides being competent, Jason is so friendly and personable and explains things clearly. We are grateful for him doing the work for us, and we imagine lots of other customers feel the same way. Residential Heating & A/C is so lucky to have Jason and we are lucky he came to our house to do the work!

I was told that the parts & labor I needed for a service would be $500 because the parts were expensive, even though it was a 15 min job. After the work was started, a quick price check and they were $20 a peice. I don't mind companies needing to be profitable & people need to be paid for their work, but be honest about your pricing, and clear about your rates. I bought an AC system from them, and I've had multiple maintainences from them. But I won't go back.

We've been quite pleased with Residential throughout the entire process of installing a heat pump, from estimate to installation, to walking us through the rebate process. They have been timely, transparent, and responsive, and we would recommend them wholeheartedly.

We used Residential Heating & Air Conditioning to replace our 50 year old gas furnace with a heat pump, so we can have safer & more efficient heating, and enjoy cooling in the summer as well. This company's quote was competitive, and they were very easy to work with. Their crew (Abel, Ray, Nick, Noah, Tyler) always arrived within their promised time window, they kept our place clean, and they installed everything exactly as promised, with no surprise extra costs. Though I'm no HVAC expert, the quality of their installation seems to be very good, and we had no trouble with the city permit inspection. I also appreciate that they followed through to work out some small adjustments/kinks after the installation was complete. With this unusually cold winter, we've been very happy with our system's ability to keep our (poorly insulated, old) home warm, and we're looking forward to a more comfortable summer as well!

If you are building or remodeling a new home or a HVAC system(s) and Residential Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. ("Resi") comes up in the quoting and bidding process, choose "Resi". If "Resi" are not on the quoting and bidding list, add them. If someone tells you that you could save money by going with one of their other "trusted" but unlisted resources, get multiple points of confirmation you're not being lied to (otherwise, chances are, you are). Pay now or pay later; but, one way or another, you will pay (see below). Given the chance and choice, I would strongly encourage paying NOW to work with Cathy and her "Resi" team. They'll get it right--the first time, you'll delight in working with them in the process, and they'll be there for you when and if you need them in the future for regular service and scheduled maintenance. Like anyone worth working with in construction-related trades in today's world, they are busy, but they are worth the wait. We built and completed a new home in Fall 2017 with the design and installation of other resources. The design resources were quite capable and designed and delivered specifications for an HVAC system of quasi-commercial level. However, the installation resources, unfortunately, we only learned later were not trained and certified HVAC technicians and, most certainly, were not trained and certified Mitsubishi Electric (our HVAC system brand) technicians. The general contractor had promised these experienced and well-trained and -certified installers would save us thousands and get the work done on schedule. But, even as we worked toward HVAC system commissioning and bring-up we had issues with the HVAC system that we escalated with the general contractor and the subcontractors that went unresolved. Eventually, the general contractor and subcontractors went bankrupt, closed up shop, and we were left with an ill-performing and often-broken HVAC system. Left holding the bag, we began the search for a reputable, trusted, competent, thorough, and technical HVAC company and team willing to build a relationship and take on our HVAC challenges and bring the HVAC system to a state we and the original engineering designers knew it was capable of. Fortunately, through our architects, we were referred to an energy design consultant who, in turn, referred us Cathy Haire and her team at "Resi". Where other referrals flat out refused to work on someone else's design or installation--particularly one with problems, Cathy and her team were willing to listen to the problems; understand the system (including its original design) and installation; and to work with us to methodically solve them. So, October 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly three years after we moved in, Cathy and her outstanding master technician, Ryan Anderson, came out over a couple of October days and worked with us to: document the scope and scale of the problems; through construction photos and as-builts to understand existing conditions; and built a prioritized action list with labor and part cost estimates to rehabilitate our HVAC systems and bring them back up to their full, intended performance. Two years, a 26-point work item list, and a little under $33,000 later, five years after we moved in and took occupancy of the home, Cathy, Ryan, and the "Resi" team have provided us with a powerful, quiet, efficient, serviceable and highly- functional Mitsubishi City-Multi S-Series + Nest system that finally works so well that we did something we had never done five years prior: we turned the thermostat cooling set points up two degrees since the house was simply too cold at the prior set points with the system functioning correctly.

Cathy, Patrick, Jim and team have been great. They fully supported their AC work and equipment even after a part went bad. We appreciated their attitude, knowledge, and responsiveness.

Kathy Haire runs a tight ship and they are the best HVAC company! Here's just one story: Our existing high-efficiency furnace unit broke. It was installed by another company that, (surprise!) went out of business. I read the installation manual and discovered at least 4 installation errors. So I started getting quotes to “fix” or replace the furnace. The first 4 HVAC companies that looked at the furnace failed to notice more than one of the installation errors. Kathy Haire found all 4 errors and also noted some other issues. She was also the only company to measure the airflow to the furnace (this is important). Then she sent her engineer to properly size the new replacement furnace and AC unit. The installation went very well. Since then Kathy's team has installed another furnace and AC unit, and serviced others for me. I can't recommend them highly enough!

We have previously used this business to replace an old AC compressor with fast, professional, and excellent results (Timo is a gem!). Then yesterday, during the Labor Day Weekend heat wave with temperatures in the 90’s, our old AC thermostat stopped working. We called the office just before 5pm and the owner, Cathy Haire, picked up the phone and patiently talked us through how to reboot the furnace and the thermostat. This completely solved the problem and saved the rest of our weekend. What amazing service and customer care!!! This business is outstanding!!!

Our AC thermostat stopped working on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend during the heatwave with temperatures in the 90s. I had previously used Residential Heating and Air (their technician Timo was excellent) and immediately called them. The owner Cathy Haire responded and talked us through how to successfully reboot our thermostat —which was a godsend. What truly amazing customer service! We highly recommend them as an outstanding company who do exceptional work and care about their customers.

I am updating my review after a quick and professional response from the owner, service manager, and service tech after I called to let them know about the issue. They responded with a quick evaluation, but when I tried to get a call for start date and how long it would take I could not get a call back. I gave them 2 chances all without return of phone call. Apparently, there were missed messages from the customer service rep to the service tech. The owner offered reasonable solutions to my issues and I appreciate the follow up from the owner, service manager, and service tech, but I choose to go with another company due to the delay.

Wonderful experience with Residential. We just completed a replacement of our air and heating system, on time and on budget. Since we're on a hill, the install was a bit more complicated, yet the Pro's at Residential were undeterred. They've maintained our system for years and we are so pleased now that the new system is up and running in time for winter. So much better. We'd like to give a special shout out to David, Andrew and Matt, Jessie, Nick and Noah. 2x for Noah for painting the conduit to match the house paint.

We've used Residential Heating for almost two decades now, and they are truly a cut above the rest. Here's an example: technician Hassan just left our house after our regular scheduled maintenance today. Most repair guys sort of mumble “everything’s OK” as they’re slinking out the door. Hassan’s customer communications with us have always been Way Stellar. First a top line view ("Everything looks good."), and then a bit of a window into the future ("As the systems get toward their end of life we’ll do a cost/ benefit analysis if something bigger fails in the system.") and then an actual parting note ("Well, I’m headed out, and obviously if anything happens in between our regular maintenance visits, give us a call. Have a good weekend."). Owner Cathy Haire runs a company with motivated employees with a great service attitude and a drive to both inform customers and keep them happy. Bravo!

I had a recent terrible experience with this company. My main issue is that their rep came to my home and insisted that I needed a full replacement of my system. When asked why? "He explained, " Because your system takes R-22 and that coolant was phased out in 2019" I asked if there was any left to be purchased. He stated no, I quickly fact checked that info only to find out that R-22 will be phased out 2020 and is still available and it the cost online was 17.00 to 33.00 a pound. When I showed him the information on my phone he backed up and then stated that they could get R-22 but it would cost us $80.00 a pound and it would take 4-6 hours to find the leak at $150 an hour. So I would be better off with a new system. That is at least $5000 installed. There was no mention of environmental issues at all. I was by that time Irate! I caught this rep dead to rights in at least 3 lies. I was lucky enough to find another HVAC professional who was able to locate my systems leak immediately as a loose valve cap. He recharged my system for a total price of $500.00. I am sure we will receive some response from this company to the effect of taking the high road regarding environmental issues etc. What they fail to be able to explain is the core issue. Their rep lied about R-22 phase out in 2019, and then lied about the availability and cost. Only upon being presented with alternative facts did he back peddle and change his stance to the extreme expense of repair. which was also another lie to manipulate me and make me fearful to buy a system from their sales team. So anything that is a response from this company can be expected to be at best only partially true based on the out right lies told to me at the beginning. So all these wonderful reviews.. Are you sure you needed a new system? I would recommend never working with any company who has a "sales" team and fancy trucks they need to pay for. Better go local with honest mom and pop shops.

My first encounter this company was when I had a leak in my furnace. They responded promptly and the representative was very professional and attentive. Then I went shopping around for an AC, it seems to be hard to compare between Residential and other companies that came by for the estimation. The representative (Nick) was professional, thorough and honest. The professionalism continued when they came to install the unit, with great attention to details by the crew. Later on they followed up sending their representative to assist passing the city inspection. My experience with Residential was awesome and I will definitely come back to them for all my HVAC needs!
