The AC capacitor is broken and the technician forced me to change it otherwise he cannot continue diagnosing. It costs me $487 to change the capacitor and he didn’t give me the broken one even when I was trying to keep it. He was rude and tried to get me away when he did the diagnosis and said I would distract him from work. He didn’t email me the estimate of the capacitor neither. I checked the price of the capacitor which only cost 40 dollars and he said other is the cost of labor. Which company’s labor could be $450 per hour!

Owen was very thorough and explained everything as he was working all along. He knew exactly what he was doing, given that he started work at your company not too long ago. I would like him to come back as my service guy. I was wondering if I could get more discount for parts since I have neen a loyal customer for 5 years.

I would strongly caution anyone considering Tru Home Heating and Air Conditioning based on my experience. Tru Home installed a brand-new condenser in our home in 2019, and we also purchased their annual VIP maintenance program because we were told it would help keep the system running properly and identify potential problems before they became major issues. Unfortunately, when our AC stopped working shortly after one of their maintenance visits, the experience was extremely disappointing. During a heat wave, with young children in the house, I called Tru Home to diagnose the problem. I was told that the thermostat was faulty and was charged nearly $600 for a thermostat that sells at Home Depot for around $89. Given the heat and the situation with our children, I felt pressured to authorize the repair. After installing the thermostat, the technician told me the system still wasn't working and that a "leak check" was needed, which cost another $342. Just two minutes later, I was told that the system needed a $6,000 evaporator coil or potentially a $15,000 new condenser. At that point, I had spent nearly $900, and the AC was still not working. I decided to get a second opinion from another AC technician. He quickly diagnosed the actual problem: a bad capacitor was preventing the compressor from turning on. The replacement part cost approximately $20. He also told me that a legitimate refrigerant leak check cannot reasonably be performed in two minutes and would normally take considerably longer. What is most frustrating is that we specifically paid for the VIP maintenance program with the expectation that problems would be properly identified and addressed. Instead, when our system actually failed, we were charged hundreds of dollars for a thermostat that didn't fix the problem, charged another $342 for what was represented as a leak check, and then presented with thousands of dollars in replacement options—when the actual problem was a roughly $20 capacitor. I understand that HVAC repairs can be expensive and that diagnosing equipment isn't always straightforward. What concerns me is the sequence of events, the charges, the diagnosis, and the fact that a second technician was able to identify such a simple problem. Based on this experience, I will not be using Tru Home again, and I would encourage homeowners to get a second opinion before authorizing expensive repairs, especially when the proposed repair costs thousands of dollars.

Nothing like paying $575 for a thermostat that costs $120! I only called them thinking that my A/C was the issue and needed a professional but it just needed a new thermostat. It took all of 15 min to assess and replace. Never again will I use True Home for service. Edit: I love when a company doubles down on their scam artist behavior. I did approve the service rendered. I can’t dispute that, but I didn’t know what the cost of the thermostat was ($120). If you’re telling me that 15 min of walking to your truck, taking a couple of pictures, pulling off the old defective thermostat and replacing it without having to do any technical work costs $455! Then I believe I have been overcharged. If anyone ever asks me about True Home not only will I tell them that your pricing is ridiculous but I’ll let them know that your customer service is TRASH!

Be very careful of this company. They are scammers. I had a technician come out due to an ac problem. The ac will be on all day and the house will stay at 83 degrees. The first technician came out and tested everything and said there is no problems. Gave me the basic advice replace filters etc. then the company contacts me and says they want to send out their senior technician. The senior technician comes out and says right away the compressor is out on the outdoor unit. He recommended to put a jump start kit on the compressor which is 100 dollar part and wanted to charge $350. When I stated that the compressor is out and the unit is a year old I brought up how this is a manufacture problem the technician began to state how you can only replace the part if it fails with the jump start. Which is a load of BS because of the compressor is unable to work and operate as is from the manufacture then it’s a faulty part. He then goes to send me an estimate for manufacture warranty claim for $4000. When I called the office and questioned why I’m paying 4k when it’s manufacture issue the lady stated that what we charge for labor and miscellaneous parts. Something didn’t seem right so I contacted the manufacture and inquired on the cost for a new unit for the outside and to replace the out door unit for a 3ton is 4k. But you guys wanted to charge me 4k for a compressor and refrigerant. After stating this the technician Tony got worried and up and left in a hurry. Honestly looks like this company is scamming people.

Con Artists!!! I called True Home because they were referred to me by the company that did the initial installation of my system five years ago when I purchased the house brand new. I have been having issues for several years now of my unit, not draining properly out of the primary pipe. It has continuously been draining from the secondary pipe above my second story window. True Home came out to investigate and claimed that they attempted to clean out the main pipe, and that it was cleaned. The technician told us to keep an eye on the system to see if it continued to leak out the secondary drainage pipe and to call them back if it did. He charged me $375 for the service.. After five days of continued drainage out of our second story drainage pipe, I called True Home back to advise them that the issue had not been fixed. True Home came out a second time and said that it was a problem with the coil. They quoted me a price of over $3000 to have the coil replaced, which is still under warranty. I was then advised that it may be possible that the coil was discontinued, so the only way to get the system to work was to replace the whole unit. which was over $17,000. This week, I called a friend of mine who works for Kinetic Air. He came out with his boss and climbed up in the attic, just like the previous company, and actually opened the unit in the back and unclogged the primary pipe. The problem was fixed!! And now the secondary pipe is no longer draining!. In short, True Home didn’t do the job correctly. Either the technician was incompetent or lazy. All he had to do was shoot CO2 from the back of the pipe and that would’ve cleared it. It wasn’t even a $17,000 fix. True Home air basically robbed me!. Definitely a company not to be trusted and I would not do business with them again! I highly recommend Kinetic Air and will be leaving them a stellar review!
