• We recently discovered that our 16-year-old water heater needed replacement. We contacted three companies, and Aquaflame quickly stood out. Sam was the only representative who immediately discussed the technical details and provided thoughtful recommendations. In contrast, one of the other contractors accused us of wasting his time because we had not yet made a commitment. Sam recommended the Midea Hybrid Heat Pump Water Heater, and we are extremely pleased with the upgrade. We also own a Midea portable air conditioner, which has been outstanding—it can cool our master bedroom dramatically in about 15 minutes—so we had every confidence in Sam’s recommendation. His crew was efficient, professional, and highly skilled. They completed the installation with excellent workmanship and left the site spotless when the job was finished. As shown in the attached BC Hydro graph, the results have been impressive. Since the installation of the new heat pump water heater, the light-blue bars representing our daily electricity usage have flattened noticeably from June 10 onward, consistently remaining around or below the 20 kWh mark. The upgrade is already transforming our household energy consumption in a clearly visible way. We highly recommend Aquaflame.

• I scheduled an appointment with Sam for May 15 to assess an air conditioning solution for my condo unit. During the visit, he initially suggested a mini-split system with the condenser/radiator unit mounted on the balcony. When I explained that I wanted to remain compliant with the building strata council, he then suggested a window unit. Since my unit has a through-the-wall air conditioner, I told him I preferred to pursue that option instead. I've purchased units from Home Depot before (which he was very quick to point out as an option), but what I was more interested in is access to a local technician that could provide check-up service and repairs as needed. He told me he would follow up "next week" - I never heard from him again, and it has now been nearly THREE weeks since the appointment. I haven't bothered calling back because if he can't even follow up, then I don't want to give my business to someone like that. I have since gone elsewhere for the install. I understand that not every job is a good fit, but at the very least a simple follow-up to let me know that you didn't want to do it would have been appreciated.

• I had a broken hot water tank and needed same day service to restore hot water in my house. I looked around for a local contractor and ended up calling Sam from Aquaflame in the morning around 9AM. On the phone, after explaining my problem, Sam was clear and to the point and gave me the cost up front for replacing a hot water tank. He answered all my questions, gave me some options for different brands for the replacement hot water tank, and gave his suggestion when asked. He promised to come by around 1pm to confirm that the hot water tank was irreparable. While I was waiting, I sent over information by text and asked some follow-up questions. Sam was quick to reply to my texts, and even called me back to answer some more questions I had about warranties. He suggested a tankless water heater if I was worried about warranties, as those came with 20+ year warranties but with higher up-front costs, but he never pushed on the up-sell, just gave me the options available to me. I appreciated the honesty. Sam came by a little later than promised, around 1:30pm, but I understood I was receiving same-day service and contractors can run behind on their jobs. He was friendly and efficient, confirmed the broken tank, and started draining it and said he would come back with the replacement tank in about an hour. Two hours later (again, a little later than promised, but he quickly responded by text when I asked for an ETA), he came back and he got the job done with another person on his team. He stuck around for a bit after the job was done to confirm the water was working and to clean up and go through the basics with the new tank, like how to start the pilot light, heat settings, etc. I appreciated that he took some time to go over things even though it was getting on into the evening. All in all, I would recommend Sam from Aquaflame. The price was given up-front and fair, the service was good, and I received same-day service to restore hot water in the house. I will likely call him again for other HVAC needs.
