• I started using this company in 1999. They have been consistently reliable in all aspects of HVAC work. In the combination of the two homes I have had, they have moved gas pipes, installed heaters and air conditioning units, added returns to improve air flow, and on one check up, fixed a large duct that had developed a leak. Their turnover of technicians and service desk is low and, for me, that is a sign of a solid company; however, their punctuality, reliability, and service are more than just signs of a good company. • Arlington Heating and Air Conditioning replaced our gas boiler about 20 years ago, and it has worked flawlessly ever since. But as both it and I are getting on in years, I finally decided it was time to get a service contract for both the boiler and our central air conditioning. So last fall, an Arlington H&A tech, Martin, checked out our boiler at length and told us that it seemed in remarkably good shape. And this summer, a different technician, Curtis, spent more than an hour testing our A/C air handler and compressor, warning us that the capacitor is “wobbly” but would probably get us through the season. It was hugely reassuring to have two skilled techs give us thumbs up on the boiler and A/C, and not to have either of them try to alarm or upsell us. Both men were extremely polite and helpful, as well as knowledgable. Based on these experiences, the service contract seems well worth the money, and I would highly recommend Arlington Heating and Air. Finally, a shout out to the people who handle the phones, who are extremely competent, polite and cheerful.

• Arlington Heating and Cooling have provided my HVAC and water heating needs over the past 14 years. During this time they have provided preventative maintenance for my hot water radiator heat and heat pump a/c. This maintenance has extended the life of these units far beyond the normal replacement time thereby saving me money. They have recently installed a hot water heater and digital thermostat. They all work great. If you need help with new equipment they will come in to answer your questions and show how to operate the equipment. Recently, I have moved away from Arlington and had to do some major repairs. They installed a new heat pump and air conditioner. They worked around the other contractors allowing the jobs to be completed in minimum time. They charged a fair price. I am very happy with the entire 14 year experience.

• Had them service my HVAC this spring in April. Tech was on time and polite.i had confirmed by phone that the service would be thorough and they assured me it would be. Also asked for a quote to install two new smart thermostats. The quote was over $2k although I know the thermostats cost $250 retail. Decided to install with another more reasonable HVAC person this month in June who also informed me that the freon was low and coils dirty on my outside units. So what the heck did I pay Arlington Heating for? My new guy also said that a wire to the furnace had been cut and believed it to be sabotage in order to get more business out of me. This might have been done by a prior company though. I am reluctant to blame them for this but include it on the off chance others have had the same experience. However the dirty coils and low Freon — that’s 100% on them. Too bad because they were really nice.

• Quickly diagnosed the bad capacitor on my 13-year old condenser but boy were they expensive. $394 to replace a $25 35/5 capacitor! Unlike some of their competitors they wouldn't include the $159 diagnostic fee into the repair cost so I had to pay that on top of the inflated repair cost. Wouldn't even agree to a military/first responder discount. Like I said, they got the job done, but at very premium price.
