• Charged me $788 to replace a 12 inch gas line section. Shame on me because I later found out TJ Fannon would have charged $278. The worst part was after the plumber finished, he walked up from the basement to my kitchen with a lit cigarette after bleeding the gas line for air. I do not recommend.

• BL James was excellent. Our AC failed on a Wednesday and we contacted BL James Thursday afternoon requesting a quote for a replacement system. They sent a team member the next day to review our needs and spec out two systems at different prices. There was no pressure to upsell or push us into a more expensive system. We received quotes for those systems within an hour after the appointment, and after we selected a system we were able to schedule a replacement of our current ac/ heat pump for Monday. The team arrived promptly Monday and completed the work quickly and cleanly, putting down mats through the workspace and cleaning any debris and trash on completion. The work is fantastic and has been working great. Overall fantastic experience and we would highly recommend BL James for local hvac work.

• *** BEWARE -- READ THIS *** If you are looking for a HVAC company READ THIS before you talk to B.L James & Son. I talked to one of the technicians, Mark, about a small commercial job for my business. They totally lied about what the "cost" of the job was vs what the final bill ended up being. Mark actually said to me that he quoted the job very high just in case it took longer or more equipment was needed. I was assured that I would only be charged for parts and labor. In the end, I received a bill that was almost twice as much as it should have been and then threated to "rip the A/C unit out" (said specifically by Mark), send me to collections and put a lien against me if I did not pay the bill immediately. This company should honestly be investigated for corruption. Don't make the same mistake I did; find another HVAC company. Update from owners response: The owners response is a complete LIE! I sincerely hope that people read this. Your employee, Mark, convinced me NOT to get another quote by saying I would only be responsible for parts and labor. I was charged thousands more than I should have been. There is NO WAY that all the reviews for this company are accurate or true reviews. I have had multiple issues with your company from the beginning. Nothing, however, to this level of neglect, dishonesty and manipulation. Take a look at Yelp. That review site gives a better idea of what kind of company this is.

• Had BL James install a pressure reducing valve on our water line after a home inspection showed the supply pressure over 100psi. The lower pressure solved problems we were having with a shower valve and our ice maker. Easy to schedule the work, final bill came in line with the initial quote despite the plumbers running into some unexpected challenges. Not cheap, but reasonable price and work well done - would use again.

I received 3 proposals for my heat pump replacement and there's was the strongest both in terms of cost and value. Also, they focus on Daikin products and my deep research on Daikin strongly supported it was the best bang for the buck, especially when considering their 12 year warranty. The install was scheduled within only a couple of days after i signed the contract and the install team was very efficient, respectful, and was not disruptive. Gustavo and Eduardo were a pleasure to deal with and explained everything. They also came in the 1-hour window they said they would, which i dont take for granted. • BL James and Son are PHENOMENAL!!! First of all, they are TRUSTWORTHY. Exceptional customer service. They can fix anything. They have been maintaining my Arlington house since 2003. Last week, I had an emergency AC weekend after hours issue that they fixed in an hour. This week, I had a gas leak. They came out for an emergency visit during a winter snowstorm to fix the job. They do the same with heating, AC, plumbing, electrical. There are benefits to being a longtime customer during a time when other contractors can be a real drag, these guys are the very best. • I had a leaking bathtub that was coming through the ceiling. I had tried to unclog it myself and in the process had somehow loosened the nut. George came on time and promptly fixed the nut and didn't charge us for it since it took him seconds. I remembered that the pressure release valve on the water heater was leaking water occasionally. I showed it to George and was informed that it was a potentially catastrophic problem. I had to go to work so I showed George where the water cut off was in the basement and went to work. When I returned, my wife told me that he had fixed the problem and given us a very fair bill. I'll be using BL James for my HVAC and plumbing needs from now on. Other companies would have probably charged me for the bathroom leak. I was also informed by Aaron that he had a person that could repair the drywall damage on the ceiling. My outside AC unit was screaming this morning so I turned it off and called BL James again. Chris had a guy coming between 3 and 5. Mauricio was here at 3 and diagnosed the problem. The motor was completely shot. He gave me a quote, got the part, cleaned the unit and competed the repair by 5:30! Their service is the best in NOVA.
