• Review ⭐️ 1 Star We had a very frustrating experience with Best Service Heating & Cooling. Best Service installed our Ruud heat pump in our new home in 2022. Within a few months, it began freezing up and shutting down, sometimes requiring us to turn it off for 24–48 hours to thaw. We contacted Best Service repeatedly, and technicians came to our home more than 10 times over the following years. We were often told the problem was a loose screw, a dirty filter, our home, or an individual component, even though the filter had recently been changed. The system also heated our home poorly. During winter, we had to set the thermostat to around 76° just to keep our upstairs bedrooms above 60°. Conversations with Russ, the owner, were frustrating because I felt talked down to rather than heard. During the most recent breakdown, service manager Travis diagnosed a failed blower fan. We paid the labor for that repair, but less than two weeks later, the system stopped working again. Travis then said the TXV needed replacement, requiring us to pay additional labor. After years of repairs without a lasting solution, we contacted another HVAC company. That company identified multiple installation problems, including improper wiring, and told us that during the winter months, our heat pump had been blowing air conditioning instead of properly heating our home. We were finally given an explanation that made sense: the system had been installed incorrectly. We have spent thousands of dollars on repairs and experienced electric bills as high as $900 per month from November through March. Travis was always friendly and tried to help, but the underlying problem was never identified despite numerous service calls. The other company has now diagnosed and corrected the system, and we hope this resolves the ongoing issues and excessive bills. I would not recommend Best Service Heating & Cooling based on our experience. A brand-new system should not require more than 10 service calls, repeated repairs, and thousands of dollars in additional costs without the installation problem being discovered.

• Requested replacement of a $16 capacitor. Sent pictures of old part clearly showing the blown capacitor. Sent technician for a $90 diagnostic service. Technician didn't have to diagnose anything, but wanted to charge me $278 for replacing the capacitor. When I called the owner, he used the justification that he has insurance and operating costs to justify this huge percentage markup. Definitely price gouging. Cannot recommend for any service call.
