• AC tripped the breaker so I called Bon Air. Sent a tech out the same day for a cost of $89. The tech did a simple troubleshooting step and advised I would need a new AC system, advised against making repair efforts due to the age of my system, and would send a "comfort agent" to advise me, next availability was in a few days. It was 100+ degrees and I started looking at my options. A quick google search and cost analysis with ChatGPT advised me that a repair could be done but a new system would be more cost effective in the long run. I uploaded the techs remarks into ChatGPT and asked if the troubleshooting justified the recommendation to replace. The response was that the troubleshooting was inadequate and told me what should have been accomplished. The next morning I contacted Bon Air and asked them to re-evaluate my system based on the specific steps recommended by the chatbot. They sent another tech out the same day at no cost to me. Using the guidance I provided, it was determined my system was suffering an electrical problem, not a total failure, and recommended replacement of two electrical components. I was advised repair would come at a estimated cost of $744 and it would take a few days to get the parts, with a possible five day wait to repair due to the holiday weekend (Labor Day). The next day it was still 100+ degrees outside and near that in my home. I conducted my own search of the parts and found a local supplier to provide them with same day delivery for less than $100. As a person with a long history of performing maintenance, I opted to self repair. Bon Air has a high reputation but I was completely dissatisfied with my experience. I feel that their techs tried to price gouge me and that their supply chain is low performing. Will not recommend or reutilize this company. Caveat emptor.
