When I first reached out to Jay, it was before we had even moved into our new home. We knew that replacing the furnace and adding air conditioning was priority #1, but our home presented an additional challenge—the ducting needed to be extended to the upstairs level. Unfortunately, the billing experience overshadowed everything else. I was initially told the service call would be $195 + tax, with hourly charges applying only if I approved the repair. Instead, I was later invoiced over $400, including charges for time that wasn't spent working on-site. It took several emails and back-and-forth discussions before they finally honored the original agreed-upon service call fee. I appreciate that they ultimately corrected the invoice, but the unexpected billing dispute turned what should have been a simple service call into a frustrating experience.

• Hammer's installed a mini-split heat pump system for us last week with a compressor outdoors and consoles in the living room and bedroom. We got four quotes from different companies for the work, and went with Hammer's for a few reasons. First, their quote was reasonable. Not the cheapest, but fair for the quality of product and work needed. Two of the quotes we got were absolutely outlandish. Second, they did not apply any kind of pressure whereas all the other companies did. They gave us the information we needed, and let us make our decision. Third, they really listened to our concerns about our older home and its idiosyncrasies. Fourth, communications were simply and straightforward, whereas other companies were quite confusing. We were just as pleased with the work as with the quoting process. The installers (Sarwar and Tristan) were on time and very careful about keeping our home clean. They put down runners everywhere they were walking indoors, and left no trace of dust. They drilled picture-perfect holes through our brick siding, and kept everything as tidy-looking as possible on the outside. I am very pleased with our experience, and would not hesitate to do business with Hammer's again.
