  • Very pleased with Peterson Oil’s customer service & service team They have never let me down & that in itself is worth mentioning!!

  • Perhaps the worst company around. I have had nothing but issues with both service and delivery. Unfortunately they don’t care about keeping customers. Highest prices around and terrible customer service. There is a reason the class action checks keep rolling in.

  • You should probably teach your employees to drive. Dude is lucky I narrowly avoided the accident he almost caused.

  • Worst customer service ever.

  • Just almost got took out by one of your trucks cutting through the town of Seekonk into Pawtucket. The driver could tell what was going on, but still chose to put us in a bad position and then flips me off afterwards. Wish he would’ve stopped. Maybe your guys should start taking the highway again instead of cutting through town.

  • Have my account set for auto-pay and they just forgot to take out November. So now I get a call asking for 2 months payments. Get organized! Auto pay is to prevent this!

  • Had Peterson for about a year. Dishonest, disorganized, and awful to deal with every step of the way. Changing to a different company. They did poor work installing an oil tank, damaged my stairwell, and made both a physical and bureaucratic mess in the process.

  • Rick and Kenny came to swap out my old oil tank for a new one and they did an exceptional job! They even had to pipe it through a roof in my shed and they sealed it up so perfectly that I would’ve thought they were also roofers. All in all, I was in a bad situation and they’ve made that all disappear. Thank you!

  • I have been a customer of Peterson Oil for 18 years. I would like to compliment you on your outstanding Customer Service. Anytime I've ever had a issue, Peterson handles it extremely well with prompt resolution to the problem. Anyone I've ever spoken to on the phone is very polite, professional and patient. Service technicians are always on time, courteous and do great work. Today was my first time ever experiencing no heat. I was nervous. But I called first thing this morning and within THE HOUR, someone was out to my house and fixed the problem. Heat restore and my worries were gone. Thank you for being an excellent heating provider. I highly recommend Peterson to everyone!

  • I called due to running out of oil. This was Jan 9th 2025. My 74 yr old uncle just was coming home from U Mass Hospital and i was paying cash for 100 gallons. This was 5:10 pm and because I wasnt a customer they couldnt help me. I said it 24 degrees. Sorry i cant help you. I explained if you deliver the oil you will have me as a customer, and retain one. If not i may freeze. Nevermind my uncle. Again im sorry sir. Corporate greed. I suppose borrowing a cup of sugar is out of the question then?? What a chilly one tonight.

  • Recently had the oil tank replaced at my parents house(both 90 years old). The came and pump it out, just under half. Installed new tank, put 10 gallons in the tank. Bled out the system. Never told anyone that they left it empty. Now they refuse to return the oil that my parents paid for that they pumped out!! My parents are on a fix income so they really can't afford to just buy more oil because someone took Thiers.. Would NEVER recommend them to anyone..

  • Just got a check for $250 from the Peterson Oil Class Action Settlement Fund. Their rotten oil ruined 2 fuel pumps and a fuel tank. Don't use this cheating company. Class action settlement (not enough to cover repairs but good enough) proves it.

  • Hello. I had my oil burner cleaned/checked today by Jay and I want to give a shout out to him and to say how pleasant he was. He told me that everything looked good ad what he had done and that the burner might run for 8 minutes after he left. He was efficient and was comfortable to talk with!! I like to give credit to people who do their job well and are courteous when doing so! He deserves to be recognized!! Sincerely, Loie Angelsten

  • Bad customer service, staff unhelpful and rude. Wont be returning.

  • BEWARE!!!!!! I used Peterson oil ONLY ONCE after I spoke to a very rude woman I decided to never give them money again. Peterson had called my husband and said there was an issue and that they would need to come back. THERE WAS NO ISSUE!!!! Everything was fine and they charged me over $200 to come and tell me I need batteries. Of course I complained!!!! The lady on the phone said I was LYING and that they never told me there was an issue!!! I’ve worked retail many years and have never called a customer a liar to their face!!! I also have phone records that they did call !!! Anyways, they were supposed to refund us, but instead they keep sending us a bill to charge us MORE MONEY!!!! And we have yet to receive a refund in 8mo. Please use any other company than this one. I could honestly say I hate Peterson oil. I even talked to the manager and never received a refund. Terrible people. EDIT: I went back into my notes and found out the women who called me a liar is named JANICE. Just a reminder that making fake reviews as an employee for the company you work for is unethical. Janice was incredibly rude over the phone in a way I've never experienced in my life.

  • My husband and I have been customers of Peterson Oil since the early '90's since we purchased our home. We have had only great experiences. The customer service reps have been amazing and the Service Dept. and service technicians have always been professional. The oil delivery drivers are amazing too! I would never consider changing oil companies and risk all of that!

  • If you want to talk about bad bad service, they number one on that. They don’t deserve not even one star, this is the worse company I ever deal with. I don’t recommend

  • Horrible, stay away its no good as service and customer service. If you are a fan of aggravation and stress pick this company. You will enjoy yourself. Otherwise stay away as far as you can.!

  • I'm not sure who the main woman is that fields calls but she is consistently berating and rude. I somehow manage to get her no matter when I call. The techs have all been wonderful, I switched my service after calling around and finding a place that was easier to work with. I've had complaints since moving on that the quality of oil I was burning was leaving a ton of residue and I was given a recommendation to buy oil elsewhere which we also do now.

  • If I could give 0 stars I would. Back in April 2023 we scheduled and paid for a cleaning on our furnace. The technician came out on the scheduled day, later than anticipated. After approximately 2 hours of working on the furnace he said he had to run to the office to grab a part but he would be back. Approximately two hours passed before he returned. When he returned he said-“I just decided to grab dinner when I was out” he proceeded to work for 2 more hours and upon leaving said- your’e all set. I had already paid $250 for the cleaning fee so I was surprised to receive a bill in the mail from Peterson the next month for an additional $255 for additional service they completed during that cleaning. At no point did we approve additional service or repairs. We were never told we needed additional service or repairs. I called and spoke to a woman in the office who said I would hear from the VP. At no surprise, I never received a call but I did in fact continue to receive bills for this service every month. Fast forward to today, when we were woken from a very sound sleep at 2am to a foul smell coming from our furnace in the basement. It was strong and encompassing our entire house that we had to turn the furnace off. 12 degrees with a baby in the house. We resorted to calling 911 because we didn’t know if it was safe to stay in the house, were told to evacuate and wait for the fire department. I had to wake my one year old out of her sleep to sit in the car with our two dogs to confirm that there was in fact carbon monoxide in the house. The question from the fire department? “When was the last time you had your furnace cleaned?” They were surprised to hear it was less than a year before. At this rate, supposedly. We are sitting on a $650 bill from a different company who had to come out for emergency service to actually clean our furnace so we avoid the risk of having to evacuate again. Tell your friends, family, people you don’t even like- don’t use Peterson. You’ll be tired and cold at the worst possible time.

  • We've been their customers for many years but the service deteriorated significantly in past year or so. It takes forever for the oil to be delivered. Almost every delivery requires multiple calls and is associated with delays. Here is the most recent experience. We placed an order and paid (money was already taken!) on 5/18. We were promised to get oil by 5/24. Sure enough, it was not delivered by then. We called back the next day, on 5/26, and were told that they would get it done by 5/31. It's the 31st today and we still have no oil!! I can't belive that a simple oil delivery takes such a tremendous effort. And by the way, it is not even a high-demand season. Also it's worth mentioning that they charged us for priming the system when we ran out of oil a few months ago because they didn't process our order. It turns out that they simply forgot to schedule it. I'm sorry but this is not acceptable and I'm now thinking of switching to another company. But first, I would finally like to get my paid for oil delivered.

  • Peterson Oil has serviced our home since 2016. Since then, we’ve paid for their ultimate service plan, and for our unique situation it has saved us money. Upon move-in, our oil tank sprung a leak and Peterson removed the old tank and installed a brand new tank, all covered by the service plan. Last year, Peterson remedied an oil smell in our basement by adjusting out direct venting. This year, Peterson replaced a couple of valves and the coil in our tankless Peerless boiler, again covered by the ultimate service plan. In between, we’ve also had several small repairs and annual tune-ups, which are included in the service plan. The technicians know what they are doing and typically resolve issues the first time around. Even though it can take some time connect with the office staff, they are friendly and help with your needs. Peterson has served us well for 7 years.

  • Ordered and paid up front for oil on the Tuesday before Christmas (Sunday) and was told it would be delivered by Friday. Friday evening I called back because the oil was not delivered and they said it would be delivered Saturday. Saturday came and went and surprise!!! No oil was delivered! It’s now been a week and I’m on hold because I still haven’t had my oil delivered. This place is terrible. You shouldn’t have to wait 7 days after paying to get oil. If I could give 0 stars I would.

    Patrice H.

  • Hey, nobody likes paying for heating oil especially this year but the folks here are competitive price wise and so far offer good service.

  • I am in utter disbelief at the sheer rudeness of the employees they have representing Peterson Oil. I recently relocated back to my Mother’s home and this is the company she’s used for as long as she’s lived in the home, so in order to keep things consistent, I decided to continue business with them, but after today I’m seriously reconsidering taking my business elsewhere. To begin, Diane, their office secretary is highly condescending and dismissive over the phone as I tried to explain to her that I ran low on oil and most likely would need a primer and oil delivery. She initially told me that I would need to pay over the phone before a service could be scheduled which is a lie as I’ve had Peterson deliver oil several times in the past, and I’ve often paid the technician directly. Secondly, she chastised me that it’s a hassle for service technicians to come out for priming, but last I checked that is their job and why they are there. It’s not her place to lecture me on the phone. Thirdly, when I ordered 100 gallons of oil two months ago, the price was a little over $400. Today, the same price for 100 gallons is $530!! Just in the span of two months!! I expressed shock at this, and she was very nonchalant, even suggesting I call around to other businesses which I told her I would, but that was very inappropriate and insensitive of her in this economic climate to suggest I take my business elsewhere. Most customer representatives try to at least show some empathy and understanding. When I mentioned, I would arrive to my house by a specified time, she called me ahead of that scheduled time to reprimand me that the service technician was waiting outside even though I told her when I would arrive home by. She overly emphasized to me to make sure I had my payment ready when he arrives, with the implication being I may short them. In all the years, my mom used them for service, there was never an outstanding balance. To make matters worse, when I finally arrived back at my house, the service technician(Driver ID14) hops out of his truck, doesn’t greet me, and barks if I have the $580! I was appalled at such service. I actually had to let him know his approach was very rude and condescending, and he would be paid after service was completed. He made sure to let me know he’s been working for 25 years with Peterson, yet he struggled for almost a half hour to get the newly purchased boiler to turn on. This is horrible service all around, and Peterson may need to invest in training their employees in customer service before they lose valuable customers.

  • I had my oil burner yearly cleaned in August 2022. I had Peterson fill late Sept/Oct & didn't have sys running til 1st week of Oct due to Thermostate change! System ran for 40+ days with Peterson's product and I awoke to a freezing 🥶 house & furnace not working. Called local highly recommended person to help! He took out rod showed me the extreme gunk build up from Peterson oil product! Cleaned it up, changed filter & 1hr+ later furnace not working again. It's Peterson oil, I showed workman Peterson receipt & his response Peterson mix is beyond too high! Seriously Peterson 40+ days. FYI to all find a better co! • I ordered oil from this company and they took all of my info and my credit card info. After three days nobody showed up. When I called, they said they have no record of my order!!! They didn't even have my name or address or anything else in their system.
