• I called for ac service on Sunday and was told the technician would be out right after church. I received a call after a few hours that he would not be able to come after all because, “his wife needed him to do something else!” Chruch and taking care of things at home I understand. I don’t really understand a business that apparently dosent have a designated on call technician. I would say don’t call these folks if you have an emergency!

• Jacob and Zach are awesome. They came out over the course of a couple of days to help out with a water leak. They were able to shut off the water for me after the utility service shut it off then turned it back on. Saving me another phone call and some money on costs for the leak. They made everything very clear, explained what they were doing while they were doing it, and explained why the issue occurred. They are very knowledgeable and really took the time to get the work done properly. Respectable guys, would absolutely call and get work done with them again and am scheduling another appointment with them for other work. They also wont scam you out of money. They were a bit upset when they heard what I had paid for rotorooter to come out to do another job, letting me know it was far too much.

• Ray is very customer friendly and thorough in his work. He took this job from another technician that could not get it right after four attempts. I suggested the 27year old float valve might be the problem. It was never looked at. My wife called and asked for a different technician to look at the issue. Ray McPherson came and fixed it with a new float valve. He also installed an overflow drip-pan float switch and flushed out the main drain line. The first technician wanted to replace all the piping to the tune of $1000. I had already spent $10,000. for the ac work and a new gas furnace install. I highly recommend Ray. He explained everything to me, was very professional, and arrived in a timely manner after calling me. Ray is an asset to your company which I have used for 20 years, Three new ac units and two sets of evaporator coils in the attic. I was ready to find another company but Ray has restored my faith in a-1 american.

• On Friday evening I scheduled an appointment for Saturday morning. The technician called Saturday morning and said there was one appointment before me and that he would be out after that appointment. I assumed that meant he would come when he finished the prior appointment, so I went about my business trimming my lawn, so I couldn't hear my phone. Some time later, I checked my phone and noticed I had missed several calls/texts from the company. When I called backed, the technician said that he probably couldn't come out because it was now too late, but that he would check with the office. About an hour later, I got a call back and was told I could be put on the emergency call list, which jacked the service call up considerably. Needless to say, I won't be calling A-1 American again.

• I used A-1 American about a month and a half ago. My AC was just blowing warm air. I decided to use them because they said they could get a technician out that same day. I was told that there was a diagnosis fee of $179.00 and if i decided to have them perform the repairs then they would waive the fee and I would just pay for the repair. We'll, the technician arrived pretty much on time. He came inside. Looked at the thermostat and went outside. He took the side panel cover off the AC unit and looked at it for about 5 minutes. He said that I needed a low voltage check and that the price was going to be $675.00. This shocked me but what was i to do, so i said ok. Well, he pretended to touch a few things with his meter for a few minutes and then said I needed a new Motor Starter and the cost was $275.00. Wait ,what is this a car or an AC unit. I k n ow i could have told him to pack his meter and go but I would still be obligated for the low voltage check. Well, I told him to fix it. It was super hot that day and it needed to be fixed. He said he had the part on his truck. Removed the motor starter and placed it on the ground..I bent over and picked it up and both he and his helper told me to put it down and that I wasn't allowed to have it. I said nope, it's mine. It came off my machine and I'm keeping it. I then proceeded to look it up on the internet and discovered that it's actually a capacitor and sells for $39.00. I called the office to complain and the person i spoke to said they didn't l now the cost of the capacitor because it is provided by an outside vendor. All in all, the technician was there about 30 minutes. I ended up paying $950.00 for their service call and repair. I would never recommend this company and I have spread the word to as many people as I can not to use this company.

• Outrageously expensive. Our Unit is roughly 5 years old and stopped working after they replaced a $1000+ capacitor less than a year ago, so I called for them to come look at it. They said their previous repairwork was fine and quoted us nearly $3000 for a fan replacement! When I told them I needed to get a second opinion, they tried to charge 179 fee for coming out to look at their own work. I never signed any contract and refused - I suspect they didnt diagnosis and repair the system properly the first time. I do not trust their technicians opinion alone and will not be bullied into paying them hundreds of dollars for the privelage of getting a second opinion on our system and their work. I'm convinced that if I paid them the thousands they wanted to repair it this time, I'd be calling them again next year with their technician telling me I have to replace the whole system. Do yourself a favor and call someone else unless you've got money to burn! **EDIT AND REPONSE FOLLOWS** To Whom it May Concern/Misty: I take industry standards very seriously as well, and when a company works on a newer unit and that unit fails again within a year, I expect that company to stand by their work not their fees. But I digress, I came back to this review because I knew y'all were trying to screw me that day, but I did not know how badly until I spoke with someone else. It's galling. First, in reviewing my cameras, your technician actually quoted me $2750 exactly for the repair, so apologies for the overstatement, but I did ask why it was so expensive and he told me it was quote, "a very expensive fan." The fan motor (Rheem 51-102728-20) costs roughly $625~ to me, a retail customer. I hope your company that routinely buys and sources such parts could be a little better, but regardless install requires no special tools and takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Further, this Rheem unit is under a 10 year warranty, so if you were actually helpful to homeowners and doing your job as a reliable service to industry standards... it should have been free to us outside your labor. However, maybe you don't manage warranties or such claims because you do emergency work, but YOU WERE trying to charge a previously loyal customer over $2000 an hour for your service. While my father, the homeowner, is sat inside on his death bed in home hospice on oxygen with no A/C. But we're not done! Your technician actually left the disconnect plug on the ground under the junction box. Seeing as I refused to pay a dispatch fee for you to look at your own work, perhaps that's understandable? Regardless, it's unprofessional and unsafe, so I am *very* glad your technicians left my property without permanent damage... still, my unit sat unpowered over a very hot weekend. But what makes this truly awful? Is that when I finally got someone else to come look at it, they reinserted the disconnect plug and the unit (including the fan) came back on and has been running flawlessly for over 24 hours. So, it just needed to be turned off and on again. Of note, they did not charge me a dispatch fee at all. I have a right mind to report y'all to the DPOR because this is NOT how a reputable company conducts business. Shame on all of you. Double shame for you quoting $20k to $25k in your response to my review; as if that could EVER justify a $2000+ an hour rate being charged to a medically fragile household. Emergency? Professionalism? DO NOT CALL A1!!

• This company is TERRIBLE. When the 2 “techs” arrived, they ran over one of our US 2’ high flags and left the van’s rear tire on it the whole time they were here. $1,025 to replace a bad starting capacitor by the compressor. ( $675 for a “ low voltage test “ to determine what was wrong after I told them it was probably a bad capacitor. When I asked if the test showed if it was bad, the tech, after I waited about 20 seconds for him to answer and asked again, said “ can I just do my work here!?! “ Very rude. The “test” was using a multi meter and took about 1 minute to check the wiring of the capacitor. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! We wish we would have read these reviews before! Ridiculous. No help or compassion when we contacted the manager either. Never again.
