• After having an incredibly frustrating experience with another local company, we contacted several other companies to compare our options. Many people in our area had recommended Carroll so we reached out. Carroll didn't push anything on us and was both patient and informative with all of our questions. They worked through an incredibly hot day to make sure that we had running air before they left. By the end of the day, we were incredibly satisfied with both the units they installed as well as the quality of work. The routing of wires and ducts were tidy and immaculate. • HIGHLY RECOMMEND! THE WORK- We had John Carroll and his assistant Cody at our house to install central AC. They work very efficiently and professionally and the work is very high quality and thorough; from the inside aspect, to the outdoor access and lines, the electrical connections, and the setup of the outdoor unit itself. The Rheem system is now running at a whisper quiet level providing comfortable AC. THE HONESTY- prior to having John come over we had other companies assess our cooling needs. He was the only one that gave us other strategies to try before going the full route and cost of Central AC. We really appreciated that honesty and the options to save us money, and that there was no pressure by him at any time. He also gave honest assessments of our electrical issues as relate to the AC installation ( that others brushed over), and gave excellent referrals to other contractors. THE PRICE- John beat the other larger HVAC companies by almost 25%. This is comparing Apples to Apples on the exact same brand, model, ton size, and SEER of Rheem unit. 25% is absolutely huge when you're talking thousands of dollars. THE EXPERIENCE- Those other companies have nice salesman, phone operators or A.I. immediately taking your phone calls, scheduling, a gazillion techs, and also send automated emails on repeat with various quotes, proposals, diagrams, etc. If that is what's important to you and money is no object then you might want to go with one of those bigger HVAC companies. However, if you want a flat out honest initial assessment, a high level of experience and skill with installation (so so important with HVAC) and the absolute best price by far then go with John Carroll of Carroll Heating and Cooling. You'll be so glad you did in the end.

• Our furnace wasn't working so we called John Carroll to check it out. He arrived right when he said he would, checked the furnace error codes which just said ignition failure and didn't really give him anything to go on. He poked around for a few minutes, and based on what it was doing when it tried to fire up he said it was probably the gas valve. He went to the parts supplier and was back in under a half hour with the part, installed it, and the furnace fired up and runs beautifully. That's how experienced John is—he went with his gut and got it right the first time even though the furnace codes etc. didn't indicate any clear problem. To make matters even better, he informed me that the part was under warranty. John installed the furnace several years ago—I had no clue it was still under warranty. He could have easily charged me for the part—that's how honest this guy is and I don't take that for granted with contractors. This is the first issue we've had with the furnace since John recommended and installed it and our central air several years ago. When he recommends a furnace and/or central air, he knows what he's doing and stands behind the product and his workmanship. The final bill was very reasonable—with John Carroll you're not paying for a fleet of trucks and a fancy office building with secretaries etc.--not to mention you have the owner working on your heating or air conditioning and not a hired hand who doesn't have nearly the experience. • I found John's name and contact information on the Irondequoit group on Facebook after several people had recommended him for HVAC services. After my furnace ignitor began to malfunction, I called him up and he was able to come over to look at the problem on the same day, and summarized my options to remedy the problem including parts, materials, labor costs, etc. As my boiler system is over 30 years old at this point, I opted to go with a brand new one. Knowing that my boiler may be nearing the end of its lifespan (and in the middle of winter) John scheduled himself for the work within a week's time. He was in my home all day and installed my new boiler along with the accompanying new piping, parts and fittings, including expansion tank, shut off valves, flu vents, etc. He was very professional, thorough, courteous, and cleaned up my basement and left it the way I found it. I would highly, highly recommend him to others. I would like to add something to this post since I last wrote it. A week ago Sunday, 2/5/23, one of my pipes burst in my porch/Florida room, spewing water all over the floor. I called John, who came over to my house on a Sunday (and within 15 minutes of my call) , spent an hour or a little more at my home and fixed the problem. We are so lucky to have someone like this who lives in our community in Irondequoit!
