  • Clearly explained the scope of work and demonstrated it was complete and the issues were fully resolved! Also, explained clearly the additional work that was not imminent but could be scheduled in the future to help prevent a reoccurrence.

  • These guys answered quickly, diagnosed the issue, and gave me options. Plumbing is usually not cheap but quotes felt competitive. The communication between the team and the plumber who arrived was great.

  • Hired to change a toilet supply line, and to pull a stackable washer/dryer unit from a closet, raise the unit up on a drip tray in a tight space, replace water hoses with new steel braided and return to closet. Job required two men, patience and strength to get the work done correctly and without damage to closet door, frame or hall carpet. They met the bar. Would recommend D&F.

  • We hired D&F to do the rough-in for a basement bathroom renovation earlier this year. We were planning on doing the rest ourselves but wanted professionals to handle the rough-in and accepted the most expensive bid we got to make sure it was done right. We've regretted that decision at every stage since then. The tub: D&F asked for the tub specs in advance, which we provided. They then placed the tub drain six inches left and one inch over from where it should have been. To their credit, D&F came out and helped come up with a solution so the tub could get installed. But that was only after ~2 months of calling, texting, emailing, and finally threatening to demand they cut out the concrete and redo it right. The toilet: Despite telling them that we would be installing ditra heat and tile, raising the base floor ~1/2", D&F installed the toilet flange flush with the concrete subfloor, requiring us to use an extension to properly install the toilet. The only way that would make sense and be code compliant would be if they assumed we were going to keep an unfinished concrete floor in the bathroom, which obviously we weren't. The sink: Despite telling them that we would be installing a 48" vanity, D&F aligned the drain and water supply lines for a 42" vanity. This meant we could just barely fit our vanity in, but we had to cut into the side of the middle cabinet to allow space for the hot water shut off valve. Also, they for some reason put the drain output just 18.5" off the finished floor, despite the standard being 19-21 inches, which meant we had to cut into the bottom shelf of the vanity to make space for the p-trap. These mistakes meant making multiple ugly adjustments to an expensive vanity that shouldn't have been necessary. On top of these issues, there were other choices D&F made in how they did the work that they should have asked us about and that added work down the line (like embedding a clamp collar drain in the concrete instead of a flange drain, requiring us to do a mortar bed when we'd planned on using a foam bed), but at least in those cases their work was technically not wrong. Overall, D&F made so many non-standard, sloppy, weird, or just wrong choices in how they did this rough-in, I've had to wonder whether it was intentional--that we would call them back to fix it when we gave up because they'd made it impossible. We didn't--we figured out solutions on our own. But it took so much more research and work than if D&F had done any of this work right from the start. If you're a DIYer planning on just hiring out the most complicated work to the pros, look somewhere else.
