• We hired East Side Ventilation to clean the ducts in our home. Immediately afterward, our home began getting hotter and hotter, and we discovered that the furnace was no longer working. We contacted Dan, and a technician came out to investigate. Given that the furnace stopped working immediately following the duct cleaning, I naturally questioned whether there could be a connection. I was looking for a proper assessment and a clear explanation as to whether the duct cleaning had been ruled out as a possible factor. While the technician was at our home, he called Dan on speakerphone. I overheard Dan acknowledge that I was not satisfied and that I did not believe it was simply a coincidence that the furnace stopped working on the same day the ducts were cleaned. What concerned me further was that the technician appeared unfamiliar with assessing the furnace and needed the owner to walk him through the assessment over the phone. This did not give me confidence that the problem had been properly diagnosed or that all possible causes had been thoroughly considered. I also overheard Dan tell the technician that he would contact me personally. He never did. There was no follow-up or explanation from the owner. Then, when we turned on our air conditioner in the summer, we discovered that it was also not working. At that point, we decided to use a different company to address the problems. To be clear, I cannot say with certainty what caused the furnace or air conditioner problems. However, the timing, the lack of a convincing explanation, the uncertainty during the technician's assessment, and especially the complete lack of follow-up from the owner left us extremely dissatisfied. When you hire a company to work on your home’s HVAC system, you expect competent service, a thorough assessment when something goes wrong, and communication from the company when they say they will follow up. Unfortunately, that was not our experience with East Side Ventilation. Based on our experience, we would not use this company again. Response to owner: Thank you for your response. I would like to clarify a few points for anyone reading this review. My review was never based on an absolute claim that the duct cleaning caused the furnace to fail. As I stated in my original review, I cannot say with certainty what caused the furnace or air conditioner issues. My concerns were also about the uncertainty surrounding the initial assessment, the lack of a clear explanation at the time, and the promised follow-up from Dan that I did not receive. Regarding the claim that the issue was addressed in a timely manner, Dan did not contact me as promised. In fact, I did not hear from him until approximately five months later, when I received an invoice and emailed him myself. This is an important distinction between responding to an issue and proactively following up with a concerned customer. While I acknowledge the technical explanation regarding the failed sequencer, this does not change my experience or address my concerns about communication and customer service. My review is an honest account of my experience with East Side Ventilation, and I stand by it. I believe customers should be able to share their experiences, including concerns about communication and follow-up, so others can make informed decisions.

• East side staff are highly skilled. They did our annual ac and hvac tune-up and duct cleaning. Staff removed a shelf that was blocking the main line for the duct system to clean the house throughly then installed the shelf again. The technician who did our ac and hvac tune up also checked the hrv. He added a circulation setting so that we could use hrv even in the summer. He also showed us how to navigate the different settings and gave tips on how to keep our hvac running efficiently.

• We were having issues with our A/C last week during the heatwave. it was a fresh install ( not by them) but it was only pumping hot air and the guy who charged the system after I installed it, wasn't able to get back for a few days. ( i'm not an HVAC guy) With my trusty multi-meter and google by my side, after 2 days i concluded there was an issue with the furnace board, so i contacted Eastside to inquire. Jack was the technician on call and on a Friday evening, after i explained to him everything I've done and what i "figured out" ( i was wrong). He was nice enough to help guide me through a few tests prior to him coming out. I ended up needing to get him out, and he figured out that the brand new thermostat i installed was faulty. apparently this is not uncommon. Anyways, definitely request jack. extremely professional and very personable. took an hour out of his Friday night, over call/text, trying to help me see if i could figure it out my self, to avoid an emergency service call. Too many contractors want to just get off the phone and into your house as fast as possible.

• I contacted East Side for HRV repair based on information on website and positive Google Reviews. The HRV was running, but humidity in our house was really high, and we were having condensation issues, especially on cold days. We were happy with the initial visit, issue was thoroughly investigated and diagnosed as a faulty damper motor. We were charged for the service call, as expected, and the part was ordered for us. We were told that we would be charged for the part and labour upon installation, but not for another service call when it was time to come back to install the part. Almost 3 months later, when the part finally came, we were charged for the motor, another service call charge, and 1.5 hours labour, even though the technician was in our home for 30 minutes or less. We were told that the drive to pick up the motor was included as labour, which I’ve never seen with any other companies, on top of the service charge that we were told we wouldn’t have. So now we’ve paid nearly $1000, but worth it to have our home back to normal humidity levels. Except the HRV still isn’t doing its job, and humidity levels are plateaued at 45-50%, even on -25 days, and we still have water and ice buildup on our windows because of it. We called back to ask if someone could come look at it, because the initial problem still hasn’t been solved, but we were told that we would be charged for another service charge, even though we have already paid almost $1000 to solve a problem that hasn’t been solved. The response I was expecting was that they would be apologetic, and come and try to solve the problem that they clearly didn’t fix, but instead it was just more money that they’re wanting. So at this point I’m going to cut my losses, and go with another company. This is a completely unacceptable way to treat a customer who has given their trust, and a lot of their money.

• I needed to raise up that outside part of the AC system and thought how hard can it be? Then I thought ya, no, I will likely break the copper pipe and the HazMat police will be taking me away in cuffs. So I contacted East Side Ventilation about lifting that part up and out of the mud. They agreed that it is not necessarily a task a semi handy guy such as myself should take on. I agreed and quickly told my better half I'm not qualified!
