  • Just off the phone with THE J. HANSEN HVAC GROUP During a recent service call, their technician took a part from my apartment that did not belong to him. I tried to resolve the issue by requesting a refund or the return of the part, but instead, they blamed my tenant and claimed there was no proof their technician was responsible. Long story short: I paid almost $500 for 40 minutes of work, and now I’m out an additional $180 for the missing part. The job was completed, but at the expense of dignity and with an unreasonable cost. Message to THE J. HANSEN HVAC GROUP: It’s understandable to protect your employees, but please change your attitude toward the customers you serve. Do not call them liars or thieves. This approach will help your reputation and customer trust.

The J Hansen team is incredible. They are responsive to calls and emails. They provide ongoing support for all of the work they do. They explain what they need to do in order to properly make repairs and provide detailed explanations as to why it should be done. Their staff are polite, prompt, reliable and efficient.   • Poor billing transparency. There’re a lot of technicians out there that could do a great job, but what defines a great company is the one that could keep their customer. And I do not recommend this to you. As I customer, I picked this company only because they were the one my condo management company recommended because they know the building well. I should have considered other ones if I read all those 1star reviews they have. They gave me a quote call and told me about the 2 hour minimum charge for residential call when I booked my appointment, which was at $115/hr. But never was I told that I would be responsible for the time for the technician travelling to my place, out getting the parts, and the time heading to the next call. The technician was professional, great with his job on the site. I had the capacitor of my AC as well as 2 electrical outlets replaced. He was here from 8:47am to 12:30pm and was gone for 2 hours in between to get the parts. I received a bill not itemized of over $700 two weeks later. And after requesting the breakdown, found out that I was charged for 5 hours of labour plus the parts and taxes. He was here onsite for under 4hrs. After going back and forth asking for clarification, they claimed the technician went to St James area for the parts and only agreed to decrease the labour hours to 4 hrs. After some conversation, they sent me GPS history of the technician the day of, showing that he went to Lorimer Blvd and Safeway near Home Depot Kenaston which is near my neighbourhood, but declined giving me the receipt for purchasing the parts. Not sure what they’re trying to hide with the receipts. I work hourly and I don’t get paid until I get to my workplace. The way this company charging their customer just left me speechless and furious. I would have paid my bill without hesitation if I was told about all the travel time you’ve included on my bill during the quote call and gave me a proper breakdown. Sure you have many technicians on the road everyday, I was just a few billable hour client and you don’t mind losing a few customers that disagree with the way you bill.

  • I’ll never use these guys again. They have a contract with our Condo Corp. Lately, I received a large bill ( almost $500) for a simple valve replacement on a tap. While the labour charge for the technicians was understandable, the service call rate of over $200 just to come out before they even do anything is outrageous! It’s not even itemized on the invoice. In addressing this issue with one of our Board of Director members; he too thought that it was unreasonable. I have brought the matter to the attention of our property management company and our Board for their next meeting; hoping that we find a less expensive contractor to do business with in the future.
