  • Let me start by saying that I just bought my new home 7 months ago. Super excited to be able to have a fresh start in life. Single father of a son that I raise alone. Moved from West Palm Beach to PSL. With that being said, when it comes to house emergency issues I am still not sure who to call and use when the life’s crazy moments happen. Last night, Thursday I was watching a movie with my 9 yro and at 8pm we notice the house getting hot. Yep, 78 is the temp and it’s set at 73. Not what any home owner wants to see prior to going to sleep at night during the summer. System was blowing warm air and then shuts off. First thought, clocked pipes. My son and I made a temp fix with fans while I searched for who I should call being so late at night. I remember hearing about a company out of WPB and I’ve seen their vehicles. AR Williams AC. I thought that being in PSL I would be too far. Nope, a quick search and I discovered that they have a PSL location as well. Best part, they had a call center open until 10pm. I called and within 5 minutes I had a morning appointment scheduled. A sigh of relief. I got an appointment text confirmation. Next morning I got another text notification of the tech enroute to me. The driver arrived friendly and professional. He quickly determined the cause and had me up and running with cold air within 30 minutes. It wasn’t just a fix. He wanted to explain what occurred and how to prevent it. He thoroughly cleaned the system. I attached pictures to show what the previous home owners neglect has caused. Due to their poor maintenance and failure to keep the AC clean it created a nasty growth all over. It was completely clogged. Shame on my home inspector missing all of that. The system is 11 years old. This should be a MAIN issue for home inspectors but that’s a different topic. My tech was amazing in going over options for a new system. He wasn’t here to push me into any purchases or upsells. He simply gave me some ideas and quotes on a new unit as after 10 years and lack of upkeep it’s time. He called the owner Adam who was in the middle of work but he put things on hold for a moment to get some ideas of equipment needed and confirm pricing. They range from super affordable to super luxurious. My tech was straightforward to let me know that my home didn’t need the super luxurious. A mid level or cost efficient would simply work just fine. They recommended a “Halo” system for my son. It connects to the AC unit that basically cleans the air from the unit blowing out to the vents. It kills any potentially bacteria that could occur from moisture. My son has terrible allergies so it will be super helpful. I want to thank everyone involved last night and today and I look forward to showing off the new unit once it’s installed. I will have a lot more peace of mind knowing that I can ensure a cool living while in Florida. Also, today’s temp was 97 with heat index of 101 and high humidity. Not ideal for a broken AC unit. Also, I called two other companies late last night. One was closed and didn’t answer. The other didn’t have any openings until Saturday. Not quite sure that’s what an emergency AC company should promote. When this happens you need immediate service. You will get that from AR Williams AC
