We had them come out to evaluate and recommend a new system for our house. We were given estimates for a gas system and an electric system, the electric system was cheaper but more efficient so we chose it. We were told the system would require the replacement of all existing ductwork. After choosing the system, we got a new estimate about $4K higher than the first one, which we figured was for the duct replacement. The job was “completed” without replacing the ducts, which we brought to the attention of the project manager. She told us she wanted to “make it right” by either returning some of our money or fixing the problem, but she continued to dodge our phone calls and lie to us about why she wasn’t calling us back. She did neither, saying she could not find the original quote, and she said they would replace the ducts for another $8k. The people who came to the house were great, but the office woman was a nightmare. I would never hire this company again and would not recommend them to anyone. Absolutely terrible.

Karma and Jesus just finished up with my 89-dollar tuneup. Which was perfect for my relatively new ac/heater operating with new issues. They were kind and respectful and explained things well. I did not feel like I was being massively upsold on things or being deceived in any way (which often feels like the norm for home maintenance!). I was given clear information in a way I could understand. They also wore shoe covers in my house without my having to ask. I would definitely ask them to come back again if I needed anything.

When other companies could not locate the problem they gave up but Murada was able to get to the bottom of the issue, find several factors working against the system causing the hot air. After years of trying to resolve the many issues with my air conditioning, I finally decided that it's time to replace the entire thing. After learning about the LADWP rebate for new mini splits, I called around and found Affordable Heating and Air on reddit. Their technician, Roy, spent an hour at my house discussing the options, planning out locations and size of the mini splits, mini split brands, reviewing the entire permitting process, and scheduling the install date. I've talked to several HVAC/AC companies and this is the first time that a technician took the time to explain (and even discuss the rebate!!). Their install crew spent two days doing demo, install, properly hooking up the electrical and plumbing to code, and even took the time to re-install the sidewall they had to remove in my closet! They were incredibly nice guys, and they worked so incredibly hard to make sure everything was aligned perfectly. Thank you again to Affordable AC, because life with air conditioning feels like a luxury!!

As a female homeowner, I've been lied to by contractors quite a bit. Murad Alnimri was my latest dishonest visitor. He told me that repairing my AC unit wasn't wise, and that it would cost me $3k to do (he made sure to emphasize that "Affordable" was in the name of the business!) The next quote I got was lower than half that price. He also promised that if I bought a new unit, LADWP would rebate somewhere between $6-7K. I looked online and the rebates would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $600. The contractor I ended up going with also suspects that someone might have intentionally loosened a cap so that my coolant leak would be worse. Use caution, and do not trust.

It pains me to write this review, but I feel compelled to share my experience so that other homeowners can make informed decisions. In March, I contacted this company because of its outstanding customer reviews. My family was interested in installing mini-split systems in our living room and bedroom. The company sent technician Rob Blankenship to evaluate our home and recommend appropriate equipment. Based on his assessment of the space, Rob recommended specific units and assured us that they would cool the rooms exceptionally well. In fact, he stated that the systems would make the rooms so cold that we would likely want to turn them off. Trusting his expertise as the company's representative, we moved forward with the installation and invested more than $7,000. After installation, the bedroom unit performed well. Unfortunately, the living room unit did not. Even after running continuously for four hours at its lowest setting of 64 degrees, the living room temperature remained in the 80s. Concerned, we requested a follow-up visit from Rob. When Rob returned, his assessment was noticeably different. He apologized and acknowledged that he had overpromised and underdelivered. He assured us that the company would "make it right," which gave us hope that the issue would be resolved. However, weeks passed without any meaningful follow-up. When I reached out to Rob, I was informed that the solution would be to install a larger, more powerful unit. What was most frustrating was that the additional cost would fall on us as the customer. This was difficult to understand, especially when the original recommendation came from the company's own technician. From May through August, I repeatedly contacted the company seeking a resolution. Initially, I spoke with Ryan, who indicated he would discuss the matter with management and follow up. After numerous calls over several months, I was finally able to speak with Gene in mid-August. He explained that the ownership team had reviewed the situation and was willing to install a more powerful unit, but at an additional cost of more than $4,000. I explained that the issue stemmed from an incorrect recommendation provided by the company's representative and that I believed some form of refund or accommodation should be considered. After all, we had already spent over $7,000 based on professional guidance that ultimately proved inadequate for the space. Gene's response was that the contract does not honor verbal representations. While I understand the importance of written contracts, I believe customers should be able to rely on the expertise and recommendations provided by a company's trained employees. The original recommendation did not adequately meet the cooling requirements of the living room, and the proposed resolution effectively required the customer to spend thousands more to correct that mistake. Although the company offered to cover the labor costs, I do not believe that adequately addresses the underlying issue. At the end of the day, we simply wanted a system that would properly cool our living room as it was represented it would. Instead, we were left with a unit that does not perform as promised and a proposed solution that requires a significant additional investment. This experience has been deeply disappointing. When an employee makes an incorrect recommendation, I believe a company has a responsibility to stand behind its work and take meaningful steps to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. Situations like this make it difficult for homeowners to feel confident that they can trust companies to provide honest, accurate recommendations and stand behind them when problems arise.
