• Our air-conditioner just stopped working suddenly in this Heat Wave Wednesday. I called a couple of HVAC companies, but my wife and I are so happy that we were able to find Air Flow Bros! I was not optimistic that I would find someone to help us, but Marj very kindly set us up for an afternoon appointment. Jae Yu came and took care of the problem. He was very methodical about what he was doing and explained each step to us. He also gave us some guidance about what may happen with our roughly-ten-year-old air-conditioner. He also helped us order the right air filter for our house. (The old one was really dirty and probably contributed to the AC overworking.) Thank you, Air Flow Bros! • I needed an AC installed in my daughter's bedroom so I called Paul at Airflow Bros. He set up an appointment to come over and look at the scope of the job. He arrived on time as promised and surveyed the location and within a few minutes gave me the estimate. The price was in line with almost everyone else I contacted for estimates. • I had a great experience working with Air Flow Bros! My 25 year old AC was working OK, but it was loud and outdated (efficiency, refrigerant etc.). Who knows when it would have failed, and in inland Southern California, you don’t want to wait until it fails to deal with it, because a few days without AC in the summer can drive you mad. Initially, I wanted a mini-split for our hot upstairs west-facing, but when I started pricing them out, they cost half as much as a full central AC, with a number of limitations, the main one being that it would not cool a whole house if the central AC failed. After a lot of online research, I decided to research a central AC replacement, and it looked like a Daikin brand heat pump was going to be the best value for us. We were able to select a heat pump that was 4 tons (48,000 BTU) vs. the original 5 ton unit. Jae, our HVAC Technical Specialist, was fantastic. I had a number of friendly visits from a few HVAC specialists in our neighborhood, but it was the flexibility by Jae and his team that really stood out. Initially, he recommended a remote thermostat sensor for our bedroom, which would have worked (I ordered and returned one), but it would not have taken full advantage of the continuously variable features of the newer Diakin heat pumps. Jae was able to simply explain the benefits of inverter heat pumps and communicating thermostats. He also educated me on current local and Federal rebates and tax incentives, some of which were not likely to be available due to funding having run out. He also found the best financing option for us to give a little breathing room on paying the job down. The communications team at Air Flow Bros is great. All scheduling is verified by text and email with plenty of notice. I was able to reach Jae into the late evenings with questions. Once the installation was booked, there was a courteous team of 3 technicians that worked concurrently at my new heat pump downstairs and blower, ducting and dampers in my attic. The techs always wore booties when going upstairs to keep dirt off of our floors and carpets. Most of their install jobs are complete in 2-3 days, and the bulk of our job was finished in 3 days (Jae made sure that I spent only one night without a functioning AC). Jae added manual dampers to redirect more cooling to the bedroom. Rather than our upstairs master bedroom being 2 degrees warmer, it ranges from 1 to 7 degrees cooler depending on the time of day.. This was done without any dual zone controllers or expensive electronic dampers. In addition to being an expert consultant, Jae was able to finish part of the job himself when his techs were busy at other sites. I won’t know the full electricity savings for another month or two, but initial indications are that they will be significant. Altogether, “The Bros” made this daunting job manageable, and we are now enjoying a quiet and comfortable new central AC. Thanks Jae and Air Flow Bros!
