Predatory salesmen and Inspector falsifying information for money: We had previously used their services 2 times before and upon the 3rd they said something was cracked and leaking Carbon monoxide into the house and we needed to pay 7000$ to install a new unit along with another 4000$ for a new furnace all while cracking jokes feigning relatability and making fun of my father the owner of the house mocking him as soon as he rejected their offer luckily for them im not as stupid as they thought and warned my dad of this behavior, after a second inspector came and found nothing wrong with our unit he then found out the reason it stopped working was a clogged air vent that we managed to clean up and get everything back in working condition and even offered us ways to save money buy installing our own filters I implore you if you want to avoid the BS, Lies and carsalesman mentality please avoid cougar heating and air…

DO NOT USE. Since Cougar refused the return receipt request letter to them I am downgrading them to one star ( should be negative) and putting the letter we filed with BBB. On August 13, 2026, Cougar Electronics evaluated our system and noted: “TXV not metering refrigerant right recommend replacing.” On August 17, 2026, your technician, Z. Olsen, returned to our home to execute the repair, noting “Return to repair replace TXV and Meter for 2138.32.” At that time, we paid a total of $2,057.19 for parts and labor. Your technician explicitly stated that $900.00 of that total was allocated strictly for the replacement parts. Upon reviewing our official Carrier Product Registration immediately after the technician left, we confirmed that this unit is fully covered under an active Enhanced Parts Warranty valid through July 28, 2031. Because this component is covered under an active warranty, the $900.00 parts charge was assessed in error. Furthermore, your office has repeatedly refused to provide a line-item breakdown of the final $2,057.19 transaction or verify that an authentic, factory-authorized Carrier TXV valve was utilized. As consumers, we have a right to full financial transparency. Additionally, Carrier corporate policy dictates that the installation of unapproved, third-party aftermarket components can completely void our remaining coverage, which runs for another five years. • A full refund of $900.00 representing the cost of the covered warranty parts mistakenly charged to us. • A fully itemized invoice detailing the remaining $1,157.19 balance, showing exact hourly labor rates and any miscellaneous service fees. • The exact factory part number and manufacturer name for the TXV valve installed in our system to verify Carrier warranty compliance. • Written verification of the warranty claim number submitted to Carrier on our behalf for this work.

Our furnace stopped working, the guy came out to inspect, found a “hole”, and told us we should replace the whole thing for $8k-10k. Had a second opinion and the person just cleaned the clogged duct and everything started working again. Feels like I was going to get ripped off by Cougar. Not sure whether it’s because they have been bought by private equity or what, but this is plain wrong. Be very cautious.
