  • Charged a $198 "maintenance" fee and literally did nothing but spray water from my water hose on my units. Told me I need ventilation and insulation in my attic for my units to run more efficiently. Spent more time in my attic than he did trying to optimize the performance of the exterior units. When asked if they need refrigerant, he said he didn't need to check it. So basically I wasted 200 bucks on an all or nothing service call. These HVAC companies need to quit using the terms maintenance and start calling them what they really are - high level assessment and sales pitch. It's been almost a month now and I'm looking for another service provider that actually does maintenance on residential systems.

  • Ben could have sold us on a new A/C compressor to replace our 26 year old system. Instead, he fixed a broken capacitor in minutes. We’ve used him twice and both times he acted with integrity. Could t recommend him more highly.

  • EDIT: The owner called after this review. He says his cost is $50 on the capacitor he quoted at $458.89, and offered to redo the job at $1,200 instead of $1,766.88. Still too high for me, but he engaged, which is more than the office did. He also felt the numbers were misleading because I led with the pre-discount capacitor price in the original review. The full quote is attached to this review, unedited, including the discount. So you decide for yourself. His position is that his supplier cost is $50 for the capacitor and $650 for the Trane OEM motor, and that pricing has to cover travel, labor, and replacing parts free under warranty. He felt the $275 discount should be applied across both line items rather than just the capacitor, which puts the capacitor closer to 7x his cost than 9x. He raised concerns about parts quality from online retailers. For what it's worth, the motor and capacitor I bought are both MARS (Motors & Armatures), an American manufacturer, ordered from SupplyHouse. I still think the markup is astronomically high and I told him so. We didn't find common ground on that. But he called personally, he was willing to go through the numbers line by line, and he acknowledged that the response I got from the office should have been better. Most companies don't do either. Moving this to 2 stars. Their techs have always been great and the seasonal maintenance was worth the money. My advice stands. Get multiple quotes, price the parts yourself before you accept a repair quote, and if the number seems off, ask for the owner. --- Total quote for the repairs marked up by 7x compared to what you can buy off the shelf. A capacitor was quoted at $458.89 which you can readily buy for $11. That's a 4,022% markup. Customer since 2018, two properties, maintenance agreement holder. Cancelled today. Our condenser fan motor failed. The technician diagnosed it correctly and estimated about $1,000 on site. The written quote came back at $1,766.88. The line items: Fan motor: $1,582.99. It's a Genteq 5KCP39HFAF34S. The direct replacement retails to the public for $156. Genuine Trane OEM is around $400. Capacitor: $458.89, then discounted $275 to $183.89. It's an $11 part. Even crediting them full OEM retail on both parts, that quote works out to over $650/hour of labor on a job that takes about two hours. My wife told the technician several times we needed to keep costs down. Nobody mentioned that universal replacement motors exist, nobody offered a cheaper option, nobody asked what our budget was. I emailed with the part numbers and retail prices and asked for an explanation. The office replied that pricing is discussed with the technician during the appointment and the quote is final. But the technician said $1,000 and the quote came back 77% higher, so that isn't what happened. No manager or owner would respond. I'm doing the repair myself for $234.04 in parts. The seasonal maintenance plan was good value and their techs have been fine. But the repair pricing is not something I'd let another neighbor walk into blind.

  • I had an AC issue show up late in the day on a Saturday in the middle of early August. I left a message on Sunday morning when a capacitor change (by myself) didn't resolve my issues. Efficient Home Solutions must have been checking messages because they called me right back and asked if they could send someone. I requested Mark who has helped me in the past. He promptly arrived and dove right in! Outside everything checked out (phew... only thing I touched!) ...Ended up a strange fused wire up in the junction box deep in the attic unit and he resolved quickly after some troubleshooting. He gently reminded me of his maintenance tips to keep the unit running cooler. I continue to be impressed with both the quality of work, the price and the professionalism of Efficient Home Solutions. They are and will remain my first point of contact for our household. -Brandall Binion Garland TX

  • Matthew rescued us from the Texas heat wave this late July when our fan and its motor shut down our unit. Thank you again Matthew and Efficient HomeSolutions. Too hot to handle without AC.

  • I knew I was in trouble for repair/support as I left my phone message about my AC unit blowing only hot air after 7pm. I was truly surprised to be called back within an hour that late by the owner of Efficient Home Solutions, David Rivera; assuring me a technician would be on site at my home first thing in the morning. Technician Josh Cadiz arrived early next morning. After his thorough examination of my AC operation, Josh proceeded to patiently explain the problems he had found and the plans he had made to resolve those. First though - a temporary portable AC unit was ordered for my overnight comfort as the temperature in my home was 85 degrees at that time. Next - a replacement AC unit was ordered with installation planned for the first thing the following morning. Following the new AC unit install the following morning; I was surprised to see Josh back to test out the just installed new unit and to answer any questions I might have from the process. This followup visit was an unexpected great relief to me at that time - and, it was also a reminder to me of that great decision I made some 5 years earlier to always handle all my AC or heat issues with Efficient Home Solutions.

  • Thank you, Jordan!

  • Efficient Home Solutions helped me out when other AC repairman couldn’t figure out the problem. Ben in particular is a very nice guy and knowledgeable service person.

  • Olaya and Josh worked very hard to get cold AC in our home again. Their crew were here from early morning to well into the evening installing our new unit and making revisions in the ducting to optimize performance. They also worked with us on getting funds together for final payment. An overall great experience. We felt very comfortable working with them.

  • Excellent service; the technician was very professional, and the problem was resolved very quickly. I am completely satisfied with the service—100% recommended.

  • Ben was great!

    Jonathan L.

  • I was initially very excited to have contacted this place to have my old insulation removed and new insulation added - great reviews and even Claude Ai recommended them; however, event if we exclude the HARD sell by David, every time I asked a question, David responded as if I was the most incompetent person he’d ever spoken with. I am not an HVAC expert. There is a reason I am paying hard earned money to a company to tell me what could be wrong and how to fix it, and before I hand over hundreds (would have been thousands) of dollars, the least he could have done was answer me questions in a calm and thorough manner. Unfortunately, he seemed annoyed by my questions, his tone was consistently condescending, and his answers intentionally technical. I don’t if this is his natural demeanor or if it was because we are not white (likely a bit of both). The $99 fee just to “look” at each AC unit seems like highway robbery, not to mention the exuberant cost of refrigerant/lbs. The younger guy with him was very kind and helpful and friendly, however, it wasn’t enough to remove the bad taste and feeling David left. NOT RECOMMENDED!
