  • Major Water Leak Less Than One Year After Installation — Poor Communication and Questionable Warranty Support UPDATE — Regarding the owner's response: Instead of addressing why the EZ Trap overflow protection didn't prevent water damage to my home, the owner focused on criticizing me personally. - He calls me disrespectful and condescending. I never cursed at him, insulted him, or talked down to him or his employees. I was frustrated that my house had flooded and that I kept getting conflicting answers. I said I thought the situation was ridiculous, declined service, and ended the call. - I ended the call because he seemed convinced this was a maintenance issue and that I would be charged. I was hoping they would at least investigate a serious leak from a system installed less than a year ago without charging me. I expected to maintain it annually, not to have it flood my house before its first anniversary. - He says they were upfront about potential charges from the beginning. In fact, three employees had told me the visit SHOULD be covered under warranty before I spoke with him. - He points out that the previous homeowner paid for the unit. I negotiated the new AC as part of buying the house. I don't see how who paid changes their responsibility for the installation. - He says they couldn't know the cause without an inspection, yet describes the problem as a maintenance-related clog without inspecting it. The owner's response still doesn't address my biggest question: Why didn't the overflow protection stop this from becoming a major water leak? ORIGINAL REVIEW: Cactus Mechanical installed a new AC at my house on 10/21/2025. On 10/6/2026, water from the upstairs AC area soaked the surrounding carpet, leaked through the floor, and partially flooded my downstairs laundry room. I called about their one-year warranty. Over several calls, three employees said the issue SHOULD be covered, although one also mentioned an $84 service fee. After being transferred and explaining the situation repeatedly, I spoke with the owner. Without inspecting the system, he said it was probably a clogged condensate line, considered it maintenance, and indicated I would be responsible for charges unless it was an installation defect. The conflicting answers, along with his apparent certainty that I'd be charged, led me to decline the visit. I later used a shop vac on the drain line, and the AC has operated without further leaking. I understand routine maintenance isn't necessarily covered under warranty. But I have two unresolved concerns: - Was the existing, decades-old condensate line properly cleaned and tested when the new unit was installed? I suspect it may not have been, but cannot confirm that. - Why didn't the installed EZ Trap safety switch prevent the flooding? The AC continued running while water leaked into my downstairs laundry room. I can't say whether the problem was improper installation, a malfunction, or water escaping by another path. But I'd expect the company to take these questions seriously instead of presuming it was just neglected maintenance on my part. I would not recommend this company based on my experience.

  • I normally don’t leave bad reviews but the owner of this company is rude and disrespectful.

  • Quick response. Tech found problem right away. Fixed problem and was on his way. Great service

  • Very responsive and knowledgeable. Evaporator blower replacement. 105 degrees in Phoenix Az. Not many options.

  • They responded quickly when my AC stopped working on day when temps were pushing 100. He was super efficient and was out is just 30 minutes. The service call charge was higher ($159) because it was the weekend, but I was surprised by the total cost being $600 to simply replace the capacitor. That part costs around $50, so I felt this was a bit overpriced.

  • I seriously cannot say enough good things about Cactus Mechanical. Our A/C went out last night, and having no air conditioning in Arizona is obviously not anyone’s idea of a good time! From the very beginning, their communication was incredible. Lisa in the office contacted me first thing this morning and was so kind, helpful, and communicative. I had literally just gotten off the phone with her when Jerome, the technician, called me on his own because he wanted to get the process expedited. He told me he could be at our house within the hour—and the only reason it would even take that long was traffic! That kind of service really stood out to me. I never had to chase anyone down, wonder what was happening, or keep calling for updates. They were already one step ahead of me and genuinely seemed to care about getting our A/C taken care of as quickly as possible. Jerome was incredibly polite, helpful, and professional, and Lisa was wonderful throughout the entire process. We’ve dealt with quite a few companies since living in Arizona, and Cactus Mechanical has honestly been one of the best experiences we’ve had. We will absolutely be keeping their information handy because they’ll be our first call if we ever need HVAC service again. Quick, efficient, incredibly communicative, and genuinely nice people. Lisa and Jerome, thank you for making a miserable Arizona A/C situation so much easier!

  • Absolutely stellar service! Cactus did the complete installation of our three unit system when we did our gut renovation and massive addition in 2009. They’ve been servicing it ever since. Their work is excellent; their service is prompt and their prices are fair. Don’t hesitate to use these guys!

  • If anyone needs a honest do the right thing and help your fellow man type AC service company Mike Pete and the rest of CActus mechanical crew will service you right. I was stuck in a jam with a brand new AC installed from another company and my ducts for my hvac were not disturbing the air evenly. I needed a honest and professional opinion how to repair my duct situation. Pete came out did a thorough assessment of my ducts and gave me the best solution to my problem. I talked to Lisa in the office the same day , they ordered the parts and scheduled two days later for the repairs. Ian came out installed a new plenum and ducting. After ducting install AC unit had a hickup in cooling. Ian called the office to have Pete , a experienced technician come out and make sure unit was installed correctly and running top notch . Pete did a thorough inspection of system and reassured me that my HVAC unit was installed correctly and running top notch. Mike i greatly appreciate you sending Pete to double check my HVAC unit free of additional charge. You and your team of professionals are a shining example of what true customer service is. Thank you sincerely Kyle Gleeson.

  • Great customer service, from the 30 min. call ahead before service technician arrives, to friendly and knowledgeable staff. Lisa was so kind and her friendly voice put me at ease. Jerome (spelling?) the technician was polite, friendly, knowledgeable and fixed the issue. He made sure the AC was working before he left. What impressed me the most was how highly he spoke of the company he's working for. That he is so happy that he made the right choice working for them. Overall, great customer service and small family business feel where each customer matters! Thank you!

  • I have been a Cactus Mechanical customer for many years at my private residence, 2 commercial buildings and several rental homes. Their team of technicians are knowledgeable and always communicate exactly what is needed to get our units back up and running. The office staff makes sure we know what time to expect service and they make billing and payment simple. The owners have also been on site many times to oversee big jobs and to be sure that we are satisfied. If I could give 10 stars, I would. This company exemplifies what customer service coupled with competitive pricing should provide to their clients.

  • Cactus Mechanical is a great company for fixing your air-conditioning. Pete came out and let us know what was needed to bring our machine up-to-date so that it would cool more efficiently. He did not try to hard sell us or push us to order more than was needed. He let us know that in about a year we would need a new motor but did not push us to get one “now“! I highly recommend Cactus Mechanical and Pete as a service man who looked at our unit.

    Judy S.

  • Pete did a great job cleaning the system and checking to make sure everything was within tolerance.

    E H.

  • Needed a check up and Pete was right here to help! This company is always so prompt to help with anything you need and everyone is friendly and knowledgeable! Will continue with them year over year for my maintenance needs. Thank you!

    Stephanie K.

  • As usual, cactus mechanical was exceptional service in a timely manner. I will continue to use them for emergency and upgrade needs.

    Brandon R.

  • Been using this company for years. They have changed. Will never use them again for multiple reasons. First, their fasting talking salesman will tell you need annual inspections (even on a one year old unit they installed) “in order for the warranty to remain valid”. Completely incorrect. Glad I switched contractors!!!

    Janie M.

  • Jerome was very professional and fixed our problem right away!! Thumbs 👍

    Weston B.
