• This is an outstanding business. We have been treated like family for 15 years. Their crew has always responded when we needed help, and we are an hour away from their office, so logistically we are pain, but they come anyway. For example, we recently had to install a new ground source unit- this was the Thursday before Labor Day weekend 2026. Something was wrong with the new unit's control panel right out of the box from the manufacturer. We sent a message Saturday morning. I didn't ask him to- and told him we could wait- but the technician responded on Saturday over Labor Day weekend at 9 o'clock at night to take care of our problem, which required troubleshooting and repair. Everyone with whom we have interacted at Kjelshus are caring and compentent people. We sincerely appreciate their work and hope they are in business for a long, long time.

• JR and the crew really saved the day when my a/c started throwing warm air late one afternoon. He was at my house the next day (a Friday) and indicated a new system was needed. The crew arrived the next Tuesday morning and installed the new system in addition to a new water heater. Very hard workers with lots of patience explaining how all worked. • ⚠️ Word of Warning ⚠️ Make sure you ask for a quote before agreeing to any work, however small the project, or you could get taken advantage of by this company. My husband and I had a broken GCFI outlet and asked for a technician to come out. We were told there was a $90 assessment fee that includes the trip to the house, assessing the problem and the fee would be applied to the fix. We were told that once the problem was diagnosed, we would get a quote for the whole job. We weren’t given a quote. We were charged over $600 to replace the outlet. I called to question the steep price and was told the $90 fee didn’t apply to assessing the problem and that’s why we were charged an additional $150 diagnostic fee. We were charged $375 for the GCFI replacement part, which is less than $50 at Lowe’s/Home Depot. When questioned, I was told it was because the tech had to go buy the part and then install it, plus, he didn’t have a tool he needed so another tech had to bring it out. We had to pay dearly for the lack of preparedness and lack of transparency in cost. Perhaps the company is better at large jobs, but in the case of our small job, we were told one thing about the fees but charged another.

• Eric is an expert in his field. He did a deep energy retrofit on my 1940s home. This included a geothermal heat pump as well as a ton of insulation and air sealing. My house feels brand new now by staying a consistent temperature at all times in near silence. My air quality is much improved as well. I haven’t had the system long enough to calculate energy savings yet, but I expect them to be substantial. The only criticism I have is that he just doesn’t have enough people working for him. My job took longer than it could have due to his labor shortage. He was going to great lengths to recruit as well, so he’s well aware of the issue. All in all, I’d do this again in a heartbeat. My house used to be basically a barn and now it’s more insulated and sealed than a lot of brand new homes.
