• We called Service Star on Monday because over the weekend our downstairs hvac system had stopped cooling and the fan was running continuously. They told us a technician would be out between 9-11am on Wednesday. Fortunately we had a couple of overcast and rainy days and the temperature never got uncomfortable. Also our upstairs unit was functioning properly and that is where we sleep. Koby called when he was 15-20 minutes out and showed up well within our scheduled window. He found the problem very quickly and in less than half an hour we were cooling again! Koby was very professional and courteous and fully explained the repair in terms I could understand. I feel the repair cost was reasonable as well Thank you to Koby and Service Star for a job well done! Will definitely call them again when we need hvac service

• We already had several quotes for a new HVAC because we knew that we needed a new system sooner than later. And we were right, our old unit stop working and we decided for Service Star that was the quote we selected. We call Donnie in the morning and the same day we have a new unit working. Santiago and José did a great job installing the unit. Why we decided for Service Star? Family own company from the area, good reviews, best price (but hey, it was still a lot of money 🙄), and Donnie took his time in the first visit to explain everything and answer our questions. He understood that we needed to do our due diligence in finding other quotes. After the visit he didn’t put pressure or unnecessary follow up calls. So, it was not only price but the respectful attention from Donnie. It’s been three days since the installation and so far everything is running smoothly. We upgraded from an old 3 ton to 3.5 2-stage, with UV light and was the best decision, the difference is huge. The only thing I’m missing is having my Nest temperature sensors (that we really need). With this change we were not able to re-use our Nest thermostat because it was an old one that doesn’t work with 2-stage units. The one that come with the unit is Honeywell withWifi but the model doesn’t support room temperature sensor. Just wanted to mention not as a complaint, but to share this information. In the future we will upgrade the thermostat to the model that support sensors. So, yes, we recommend this company but is always good to have 3 or 4 quotes before making any decision.

• Update: Apparently Service Star has no qualms about doxxing their customers. Good to know. Please check out their BBB (NOT accredited) rating/reviews, as well as their reviews on Angie's List, and Yelp. These are all places where the owner cannot be rude or retaliatory for negative reviews. I also encourage you to look at her low reviews, and note the pattern of behavior with their responses. Also - I asked the owner to remove my personal information from her reply, and she told me, "Your review comes down, mine does [to]. That's how that works." Please be aware of who you decide to do business with. Additional Updates: Listen, this is getting tedious. I've spoken to lawyers as well. 1) I didn't sign your paper. The name is M Chapman, Lady. 2) Even if I HAD signed the paper, your blurb on your invoice violates the FTC Consumer Review Fairness Act. Which BANS gag clauses. Were you aware??? 3) Your clause had spelling errors BTW. And for the love of Gawd, learn the correct use of "to vs too". 4) We immediately paid the outrageous service charges on Saturday and again on Monday when the part was installed. We DID however ask multiple times why the labor for the install was so high, and realized after the initial agreement that they were higher than ANYONE else cited us. Just because I don't agree with your rates, and agreed to pay them because we were desperate doesn't mean I can't take issue with them. Especially since we paid them immediately. So sit on that. Original review: We had a great experience with service star several years ago, but it seems like their service has faltered quite a bit since then. The GOOD news was, they were quick to come out for an urgent call on a Saturday afternoon. After letting us know that the expensive unit (they highly recommended we install 4 years ago) had bad capacitors which were BUILT IN to the fan motor which now needed to be replaced (as it was all 1 unit) - they also let us know it was not a part they could get until Monday. Also, while the part is under warranty, the labor for the repair is an additional $750. Cool. Beginning of Summer, but I get it. Nothing you can do. Right? They promised get the part early Monday. Then be here around noon. Well, noon comes and goes, with no call. At 1pm, we ask for an update. No idea. At 2pm, we get a call that the repairman is 37 mins away. See ya when I see ya. No sense of urgency of any kind for the kids/pets/people in the heat. Guy takes about 10-15 mins to do a very uncomplicated repair. For $750 in labor. I'm glad he's experienced so he is fast. But when I check the going rate for labor on a fan repair, it's waaaaaaay less than $750 for even a 2 hour job. It feels super scammy, and again - the lack of urgency after the diagnosis (during 94 degree summer weather), empathy or consistency makes me want to never use them again. I'll be looking elsewhere.
